Just because tickets were sold doesn't mean the stadium was full.

Same thing has happened with the Texans. "Sold out" but the seats are empty

I remember many Sundays of blacked out football in the early 90's. Randalls or Gallery Furniture (sorry if memory is failing me) would occasionally buy end of the seats so that the games could be on local tv.
That's true, but it was always 5K or less. They weren't buying 40,000 tickets.

One of the best parts of living in College Station in the early 90s was the blackout zone was 90 miles, and A&M was 93 miles away so it never affected us.

But you said the Oilers stadium was "empty" - so which is it?

I thought there must have been some big Texans news for there to be 30 new posts but, no, it's just people rehashing an argument from 30 years ago that has nothing to do with the Texans. Oh well.

it is funny that the Vikings (14-2) and Lions (13-2) will play for the NFC North title next week

while the Texans at 9-7 are cruising into the playoffs (with a home playoff game to boot)

Are our opponents set for next year?

Waiting on who wins the AFC North (will be a road game) and NFC South (home game)

Other than that, they're known.

  • Division
  • AFC West (LV, DEN home, @ KC, @ LAC)
  • NFC West (SF, AZ home, @ LAR, @ SEA)
  • Buffalo (H)

Well if we don't have Baltimore on the schedule next year, then that means we are playing Baltimore in round 1 of the playoffs this year.

I'll gladly take playing either the Steelers or Chargers in round 1 this year and playing the Ravens in the regular season next year.

Me and all the other late 70s and 80s Oiler fans are going to need some group PTSD therapy if it's Houston-Pittsburgh.

Exactly

Look at the Cleveland Browns for instance. They had to get a new team and owner just like Houston but the NFL made sure they kept their uniforms. But nope, screw Houston, you don't get the same rules. Even though Houston's classics are actually nice.
Which is messed up because 3-4 other teams besides the Ravens coveted brown and orange.

People who know ball. 4th best pass blocker in the NFL by PFF. Only gave up 2 sacks all year while playing LT for the QB who took the 2nd most sacks in the NFL.

You can put a HOF worthy LT on an otherwise crappy OL and you know what you get?… A crappy OL.

Better question is how are neither of our defensive ends in the pro bowl?

Is Maxx Crosby that popular? Most NFL fans prolly don't even know the Raiders moved to Vegas. They are irrelevant.

Would bet that the Raiders have a stronger brand than the Texans... Maxx is a good player on a terrible team, so he stands out more relative to Hunter. Pro Bowl is usually not a coronation of the best player though.

these guys don't really know ball

how did CeeDee Lamb make it over Mike Evans?

Lamb had a disappointing year

Pro Bowl voting usually lags a year too.

Does the NFL require a player from each team and each side of the ball named to the Pro Bowl?

May be why Crosby is in there. No one else on the Raiders defense is worthy so he's their lone pick.

Doesn't justify leaving WAJ and DH out but could explain why Crosby is in.

By his standard, but still a top 10 WR in the league

Actually CeeDee had a good year, all things considered.

Yeah, I get the Cowboy hate… but CeeDee was actually pretty professional the way he made some lemonade out of a bag of rotten lemons.

Love CeeDee. Would be really happy if he played for the correct Texas team

Hypothetical lines show we would be 2.5 point dogs to the chargers and 1.5 point dogs to the Steelers.

Still think I'd rather play the Chargers with Herbert being a much less mobile QB

100+ receptions, nearly 1200 yards thru 16 games…. With Cooper Rush is disappointing???

For reference Evans has 65 receptions and 915 yards…

Watching at the game tonight, give me the Steelers (may be unlikely now)
