Under these OT rules, don't you want the other team to get the ball first? Then you know what you need to do when you go on offense. And you have the small chance of winning th game outright with a defensive TD.

I guess in favor of a taking the ball, if you match each other on your 1st possession then you can win it on your 2nd possession without the other team getting a 2nd. So maybe for that reason it makes sense to take the ball.

In the 4th quarter they were getting 5+ yards a carry.

They've now done like 6 passes in a row.
