- Chiefs in their 5th straight AFC title game. Looking for their second straight Super Bowl appearance and 4th in 5 years, which is just crazy,
- Since January 12, 2020, the Chiefs are 12-2 in the playoffs.
- These two teams haven't played in the post-season since 2011, when the Ravens won a wild-card game 30-7.
- Ravens after their first Super Bowl trip since 2012. They are 2-1 all-time in the conference title game.
- If either team and the 49ers wins, it will be a repeat of matchups from the last 12 years. Ravens beat the 49ers 34-31 in February 13 in the game when the lights went out for a while Chiefs beat the Ravens 31-20 in February 2020.

- Lions' struggles to reach the Super Bowl are well documented. Their last title game appearance was the 1991 game vs. the Redskins which they lost by 31 points. How long ago was that game? Art MOnk caught a touchdown pass in it. Art Monk retired 30 years ago and is 66 years old. It was such a blowout that Andre Ware did mopup duty at the end of it.
- All bizarre because in the 50s, Detroit was the team, playing in the NFL title game in 1952, 1953, 1954, and 1957, all four of those against the Cleveland Browns, another doormat in the modern league.
- Fun fact: In the 1954 title game, won 56-10 by Cleveland, Bobby Layne was 18 of 42 passing for the Lions with 6 interceptions.
- The 49ers are looking in their 4th NFC title game since 2019, and looking for a second trip to the Super Bowl in that span, losing to the Chiefs in 2020.
- Remarkably they haven't played the Lions in the playoffs since New Year's Eve 1983, beating them 24-23. That game is an overlooked classic. 49ers were up 17-9 entering the fourth quarter. Lions got 2 TD runs from Billy Sims to take a 23-17 lead, but Joe Montana hit Freddie Solomon late for the game-winner. Frequent A&M announcer Gary Dnielson was the Lions starter and threw 5 interceptions - a modern playoff record.
- Obviously, Dan Campbell, who I once interviewed for the Batt when he was a freshman, is the big connection here to A&M. Josh Reynolds is on board as well.
- A win would put the 49ers into their 8th Super Bowl, tying the Steelers, Cowboys, and Broncos for the 2nd-most all time.
