Total screw job by the refs

Lions won that game

Unless you are 100% sure they did NOT report you don't throw that flag. Barbie needed to calm down there.

They still have a shot at the second seed and w a niners loss, they could be the #1. Dan made a huge mistake.

I understand that Dan Campbell went for the 2-point conversion to try to win in regulation, but he probably should have gone for the game-tying extra point and taken it to overtime after the ineligible receiver penalty wiped out the 2-point conversion. As a result, the Dallas Cowboys are the only team to finish undefeated 8-0 at home and have extended their home winning streak to 16 games.

I have been a Cowboys fan since before you were born. However, reading this board I would be happy to see Detroit win. You reap what you sow.
if you're so wise you shouldn't be surprised that fans are homers for their team
I'm not surprised by that. I am surprised by the lack of objectivity.

Fans do not have to be objective.
Well, intelligence is not a blessing for all.
I usually make the game threads, and I can recall at least once on every game thread having cowboys fans acknowledging that the cowboys had a call go in their favor
Not to argue, but one? Let's end with the fact we are both fans of the Cowboys and call it a day.
doesnt seem like you are based on how you are acting.

Seriously. This dude needs to **** off

Brush up on the rules.

A Cowboy game within the last month had similar penalty. It wasn't an eligible tackle, but a typical receiver. Outside receiver was lined up on the line of scrimmage and covered up tight end.

A covered player doesn't magically become eligible just because he declares himself. Declaring yourself eligible is a jersey number issue, not an alignment issue.

Yep. The talking heads can talk all they want about it, like toney lining up offsides, but it was a penalty just like Toney.

This weirdly reminds me of the Brice Butler - 12 men in the huddle penalty vs Green Bay.

I still have nightmares about that one.

I still don't get why they got to try it again after the offensive penalty

Why would they not?

An offensive penalty is typically loss of down. I don't get why an illegal touching is no play.

No it's not. Only intentional grounding. It's a replay the down.

Yeah, I just wasn't thinking. Too hyped up.

Except you can see the receiver tell the side judge that he is off the ball and not covering the end man on the line of scrimmage. Just say you don't know ball.

You can report 15 times, but if you're covered, you're still not eligible.
Im not convinced he was covered up, despite what the guy said on the broadcast.
I think, from watching the videos, he was slow to report himself as eligible, and the ref just didnt hear him).
Id probably be pissed if I was a lions fan, but we also have no idea what was said or how it was said to the ref.

The real issue with that play was that the referees didn't announce Decker as eligible. The defense has to be notified that a number such as 68 is going to be an eligible receiver.

Either way, one of the goofiest games I've seen in a long while. These types of games are typically reserved for NFC East meetings.

The CD Lamb end zone fumble. McCarthy refusing to run the ball/clock. The flags they refused to throw vs the ones they did.

Just goofy. I'm not a fan of goofy games... I want to see good sound football and we didn't get much of that from either team, the coaches, and officials.

But they do, all the time. They are really bad at this, they can't even see when Micah Parsons gets his head ripped off on a play. Literally man, head ripped clean off.

Thats a great point. If it gets announced, there is a chance one of our secondary is more aware of him and he doesnt just slip free.

Here's the important thing though. You have to make it crystal clear to the ref you're reporting, because they don't keep it secret. The referee has to inform the defense as well.

Quote:

In both cases, the player must immediately report the change in his eligibility status to the Referee, who will inform the defensive team. He must participate in such eligible or ineligible position as long as he is continuously in the game, but prior to each play he must again report his status to the Referee, who will inform the defensive team. The game clock shall not be stopped, and the ball shall not be put in play until the Referee takes his normal position.

Obviously not, but this is standard procedure every single play. The refs and players know when they are on and off without even having to think about it (unless you're Kadarius Toney). They'd have thrown a second flag if he was covered up for ineligible man downfield.

This. They just explained it on ESPN. 70 checked in w the ref but he did not check 68 in. It's on 68 to make sure the ref sees him. The ref is clearly looking at 70 and when the ref gets to the LOS, he clearly says 70 is eligible.
