NOTHING changes in Dallas until fans stop paying $800+ for a single ticket (other teams are 20% less than Dallas), stop paying $200+ just to park your car at the stadium, stop spending $200 for a jersey and there are empty seats for home games. I agree with the idea he's more interested in building the brand than winning a championship.

He's good at the brand, but 28 years of losing in playoffs show he's awful at building a team. Here's to several more seasons of playoff futility.

Please fire Quinn and retire Jerry. Spend time with your grandkids.

If all things are equal there is a 2% chance (roughly, but literally) for one team in a 16 team conference to not at least make the conference championship game in 30 years. The odds overwhelmingly say a team piloted by a monkey would at least get that team to the conference championship game at least once in 30 years.

Yet somehow, some way a team with probably the most resources in all of the United States can't manage to get there. Think about that. Think about how poorly a team has to be managed to defy those odds while having all those resources at their disposal.

People always said "things will get better once Jerry is gone and Stephen is in control" but by most accounts he already is pretty much in control and he's worse than has dad and he's probably got another 20+ years in him of running the organization too. Very frustrating.

The even sadder part is, most of us (or at least me) weren't expecting a SB this year. All I wanted was to reach the NFC title game and I would have considered the season a smashing success. And we had the perfect route to get there. And we couldn't even win a damn game.

Well, guess I will not get engaged on the Boys 2024 season till the playoffs start, assuming they make it.....I am not wasting a regular season again riding the hype train....It's all or nothing for this team next year

Very surprised that McCarthy is going to coach the Cowboys next year. I imagined after what occurred this last Sunday (an embarrassing playoff blowout at home) that Jerry would have replaced the locks at the Cowboys' facilities and not given any of the current coaches access ever again.

I disagree... I had a blast this season and I was was thoroughly entertained for 4 months just living in the moment. Definitely the most fun I've had since Dak / Zeke's rookie year. I got 18 weeks of football and most of those weeks were full of "victory" podcasts and anticipation of the next game.

And honestly... world championships are just the best and choking in the playoffs is just the worst. But whether or not the final outcome is good or bad, it's all a very temporary thing.

All that to say, I'm definitely going to look forward to next year. And if they have a pretty good team again, I'm going to enjoy the regular season and, as always, we'll see what happens if we make the playoffs.

It hasn't been a week and I've already started with the cope.

Having said that, I do think if they can find a way to add size in the middle of this defense, it could make a huge difference. There are rumors flying that Mazi was asked to lose weight, which I don't get. I think they prob try to bring back hankins and get more weight on Mazi, I think we should see some improvement in his second year. Would love to add another 'size' guy in the draft and try to get a thumper at middle LBer.

I get it.
Jerry's 81, he thinks this is his best chance. Dallas will be heavily favored to win the division again. You get a home game in the tournament and hope the football gods smile.

But this will certainly make the regular season less urgent. We will casually watch and wait on January....again.

That was my buddy. Turned it off in the 1st half and was like "seen this **** before..."

I told him I had to watch every play so I could talk **** on this message board later

I still love the Cowboys and always will but I detached emotionally from them when Rodgers beat em in 16/17 last second and a Romo retirement followed.

Its much more settling

Now if I can just do that with the Ags (kidding, I don't think I wanna lose the emotional attachment with the Ags)

I haven't quite detached emotionally, but I've definitely chilled out a ton compared my years in my 20's & 30's (For Cowboy & Aggie football).

For most games I'm locked in and really enjoy watching every play... but when the games are going really bad, I usually just shrug my shoulders... pause the game so I can do something else for 30 minutes... and then do a fast forward speed watch.

Above the talent holes, the team needs a mental and discipline overhaul. Too soft against power teams and way too many mistakes that are easily noticed by the casual fan. Which just means there are also as many mistakes made in areas the fans can't see.

Mental discipline is learned between Sundays. This team does not focus enough capital on improving that area and it shows year after year.

When my teams - Cowboys or Aggies - so completely **** the bed like that, I immediately shut it down. If they don't care, why should I?

Brilliant! If it ain't broke don't fix it, right Jerry?

Here's the thing. Quinn didn't become a bad DC overnight. As I look back, he had trouble w good rushing teams. If they can attack that w the right personnel this offseason, it's not unreasonable to think they can be good next year. I don't think Quinn wanted to play dime for half the season but that's the guys he had.

From an emotional standpoint, I'm ready to burn it all down, too, but who are you bringing in that's better than Quinn?

Need to get Mazi on the Gilbert Brown diet from back in the day. Then he can just fall forward and plug the line and forget all this fast twitch/slow twitch talk.

If you had told me that no meaningful coaching change would come out of that absolute embarrassment of a playoff exit I would have called you an idiot.

This team is so beatable, let's run it back!

But he's a big part of the personell problem. As I already posted... we've given him a majority of our 1st - 4th round picks the past 3 seasons and he's wiffed on most of them!

I know McClay and McCarthy have some responsibility here as well, but they look to Quinn when deciding who can play in his defense.

Our cap situation will be worse next year and most of his young guys on rookie deals don't appear ready to step up.

IMO, a team doesn't mentally recover from that sort of ass kicking. See Philly this year... when the wheels fell off, they fell all the way off.

If we go back out there with the same players and same coaches, it's highly likely that we are not a team that is fully bought in.... we might find a team, 8 months later, that is still mentally broken after GB.

It's possible that it all works out and we have a great season.... but right now, it feels like it's going to go very badly and Jerry will be forced to do what he should be doing right now (making changes).

Next release I want to see is Micah Parsons is dedicating the offseason to switching back to MLB and vows to become the next Ray Lewis.

Exactly. The defense got much better when Quinn became DC.

He missed in a couple of picks but he's done well too.

If you're around 50% after the 1st round you're doing good.

Last draft Mazi, Overshown, Fehoko
2023 Draft - Sam Williams
2022 Draft - Parsons, Joseph, Osa, Golhston

Overshown was getting hype, Parsons, Williams, Osa

That's 50% there.

Dak is the problem. He's not a playoff caliber QB. The offense was fine, dak just made a bunch of bad throws in the first half and that was the game.

that's not entirely true. If you watch some of the analysis of folks who have spent their lives in football, it's not that simple. Dak wasn't good but there's a ton more nuance to it than just saying Dak isn't a playoff caliber QB. That statement has no meaning in and of itself.

I'm still hoping and praying that someone hires Quinn. We NEED change.

That loss wasn't just any loss. It's the worst playoff loss in 30 years for the cowboys. They pretty much got beat so bad by a mediocre opponent that nearly all cowboy fans were saying "wtf?" The entire game. The beat down came out of nowhere and it was brutal.

How about this one instead. Dak struggles in high pressure games against solid teams.

Oh wait, that's playoff games. Nevermind.

Dak had a rough game. All I'm saying is there's more to it than just saying Dak sucks in the playoffs.

I'd be concerned Daks got mental playoff yips now. If he falls apart in the playoffs again next year they need to move on from him.

Yeah, the "mind moving faster than body" comments from an 8 year vet were concerning
Macarthur

For the record, I would be in favor of moving on from Dak. I just think you have to acknowledge that it could go the wrong way in a major way. There's no guarantee you move on and hit on the next QB. It's a huge risk.

Hopefully if/when they do decide to extend Dak, they pick their number and draw a line in the sand and don't budge. Take the cap hit if you have to or if he thinks he can make more somewhere else, he can waive his no-trade.

I am not sure what the right number is for Dak, but in no world am I paying him more than Josh Allen who makes about 43 per year. And hopefully whatever contract they offer, it's one they can get out of in a couple years with minimum damage.

You have to have a plan in place, be willing to take swings in the draft or via trade, and be comfortable being bad for a few years until you find the right guy again. I'll just keep saying it, but what is the point of winning 12 games a year, knowing you can't and won't get it done in the playoffs? The only thing that matters for the Cowboys is what they do in the playoffs. I personally don't think people would care a lick if they let Dak go and were 5-7 wins per year bad for a few years, because we haven't done anything with 12 win seasons for a decade. I think people would actually be more interested in a bad Cowboys team that would be trying to find the next QB and reset the franchise.
