Based on Jerry's post game comments and demeanor yesterday, I'd put the chances of McCarthy being fired at 60% or so. I think he's out.
I'm hoping Jerry recognizes that he absolutely needs to swing for the fences on this next hire and not try to promote Quinn or some other silly move that just spins the mediocrity wheels of the organization.
Jerry needs a Jimmy Johnson or Bill Parcells type brazen hire. To me, that guy is Harbaugh. Make the move for him. Brings instant toughness, brings instant respect in the locker room, has had NFL success, and has left every organization he's been with better than it was before. That's basically Bill Parcells from 15 years ago.
Jerry doesn't really care. He wants a coach that will kiss the ring.
And as long as cowboys fans continue to fill up his palace in Arlington what incentive does he have?
He spends more time working on development projects up in frisco and prosper than he does the team.
I've been hard on Jerry but I don't agree he doesn't care. I also didn't agree that Jimbo didn't care either. These guys care, they are just too stubborn to ever see past themselves.
I think Jerry more than anyone wants to prove he can win a title without Jimmy and get that monkey off his back.
I do agree with you though that the Jones family spends way too much time with side projects and making things look fancy over real substance.
My real frustration here is that I do not believe Stephen Jones is any better. By most accounts, he's got almost as much say and power in that organization as his dad has and nothing seems to change. It's the same old way of doing business and fielding a team. They badly need a fresh face in there to tell em how it is and how it should be done rather than hire a guy who THEY tell how it should be to. Because they don't know shi* about shi* it seems.
