Still think we can do some more good stuff today. Went on spotrac and for all the guys we don't know the specific cap hit yet, I just split it evenly for an estimate (for example I plugged $10MM for Autry) and then I cut all the obvious guys like Johnny Johnson, Tim Boyle, etc. I wasn't able to find any information on what the overall numbers look like for Kris Boyd, Noah Brown, Khalil Davis, or Foley Fatukasi so for now I left them blank. Then tossed in the $9.2MMish for rookies.

That said, we have about $32MM left for the 4 guys mentioned above and any other FAs we might add. Still might have enough to grab Armstead/Hunter and a safety, and with the seemingly inevitable Robert Woods cut we can maybe make room for Mixon too.

Let's withhold judgment until we see how this all shakes out. So far Caserio has added a quality starter on the DL, an upgrade at LB, an All Pro level punter, has addressed secondary depth concerns, and has brought back our #3 WR. And we still have plenty of cap left to play with, now on day 2 where contracts tend to be less ridiculous.

We still need a RB, another DL starter, and a #2 CB (although I have a feeling we aim to address this through the draft). A safety and another LB would be nice too. For all the consternation, I have been pretty happy with what we've done so far.

The Niners had Mostert, Wilson and drafted Mitchell in like the 5-6 round before they traded for CMC. Mitchell led the team in rushing yards and Deebo Samuel, a WR, was second in rushing yards. True RB by Committee. The Texans just need some players to join the Committee.

Maybe DP just took a year off and will come back as the starter now.

Just an update on guys who are out there, apologies if any of these are incorrect. Keep in mind there are still teams that are going to be releasing guys between now and the draft and even some guys won't get released until this summer due to how their contracts are structured. I also think every day that goes by with some of the big names not being signed is an indication that they aren't getting the offers they think they're worth. It can be difficult with some of the moves out there to remain patient, but try to remain calm. I also think a lot of what's happening shows our draft strategy. With what the interior DL guys are getting it definitely makes me think Houston will prioritize that if possible in the draft, every team that signs a big money interior DL is a team less likely to take one of those guys in the first two rounds.

Mixon upgrades a position of need and comes with serious character concerns. Both can be true. Hopefully the culture established in the locker room last year can overcome those concerns.

The organization is huge on character and I'm going to assume they've done their research and that maybe he's turned things around. Whether or not his actions should be forgiven are a completely different debate- but I don't have doubts that he'll be fine in this locker room.

I don't get the point in trading for a guy getting released when we're not exactly flush with draft picks. I'm guessing it's one of the 7th round picks as I can't see them trading anything higher than that.

It's most likely going to be a late round pick. Might include Woods as well to get rid of more salary.

And no- I don't recall any issues with Mixon off the field since that incident. Again- I'm not downplaying the incident but just answering the question above.

I'm not huge on him but he does fit our offense well. Now let's go get Danielle Hunter and I'll be a happy man.

Last year he was charged and acquitted of pointing a gun at a woman and threatening to shoot her ("aggravated menacing" is what Ohio calls it) and then there was an incident where Mixon's brother-in-law shot at a bunch of kids playing with Nerf guns outside Mixon's house and hit one in the foot.

I hate this move. Mixon is talented but I wouldn't touch him with a 10 foot pole.

Is Autry gonna play inside or outside in base front?

Mixon is not a good guy but he's also on a one year $5.5M deal. Draft a RB and get him out of here by 2025.

He's only going to be 27 though (For reference Henry is already at 30). Going by on the field only, I would take him over anyone else left. Off the field, it's a solid meh, but at least we can boot him after one year if we need to.

So, since he's on the team, I'm going through the upsides, and one that I wasn't ware of was in his 7 years playing in the league he has only fumbled 6 times and lost 4 of them. That's pretty crazy. Also he's a really good pass blocker in addition to a good receiver. So he can be a 3 down back quite easily.

Also, on edge players. Don't forget the Chargers have to drop 25 million in contracts this year to get under the cap by tomorrow. So Joey Bosa and/or Khalil Mack might be on the market soon.

He's faster, not sure about quicker, but Mixon has always been more of a one cut and gone type of guy. He fits this offense very well. Also, over the last 3 years he's averaging 50+ catches a year which is a very big plus for this offense.

he's really only had 1 year (2020) where he missed a significant amount of time in a season. Last year he didn't miss a game. He missed 2 games in 2022 and 1 game in 2021, so not as injury prone as I thought when the trade happened and people brought it up. Also, from an age point of view, I didn't realize that Mixon was in the same draft as CMC, so he while he does have some wear on the tread, it's not that bad.

Overall, this could be a home run move for us.
