Henry signs a 2 year 16 million deal with the Ravens with 9 million guaranteed and up to 20 million in incentives.

Agreed, assuming Henry can break the RB curse there.

is Mixon faster or quicker than Singletary?
He's faster, not sure about quicker, but Mixon has always been more of a one cut and gone type of guy. He fits this offense very well. Also, over the last 3 years he's averaging 50+ catches a year which is a very big plus for this offense.
I'm not so sure about that. The Bengals had to significantly reduce their zone running to make Mixon successful last year. The good news is he was much more effective out of the shotgun, which is what CJ is comfortable with.

I should have clarified that I meant being off the field for legal reasons. Seems like he's been able to do that, but I've been around the block enough to know that type of behavior has a habit of resurfacing.

I think that article is more about the offense and blocking schemes needing to change because they weren't good/o-line issues more than Mixon couldn't execute them. NFL network was just talking about Mixon fitting into just about any scheme and MJD thinking he will thrive in Houston's offense.

Reading more, that article is talking about running game adjustments for Zac Taylor over the years to change his running game to the personnel. But the entire span Mixon is the running back there, so it speaks well to Mixon that Taylor has to change the running game schemes of his offense to be able to run the ball and Mixon can fit those different schemes producing at the same level the entire time.

Steelers get Queen - and Texans weren't far off on the money desired. A little disappointing in being this close to adding an impact player in the front seven. Hope Al-Shaair provides a big return on investment.

Yeah, steelers got Queen for 3 years at 41 million. Just have to believe that DeMeco got the guy he wanted as he knows LBs.

I've heard things like in that article and it might have kept us from spending money, kind of similar to the Greenard scenario. Queen was a different player before and after Baltimore added Roquan Smith. So, paying him a ton of money you're banking on him becoming a leader on your defense and he never really did that in Baltimore (plus he waited until his contract year to step it up). So DeMeco might have decided to save some money and bring in Al-Shaair who he knows can handle calling the defense and playing at a high level.

I prefer a LB that Demeco has coached to a guy who had 1
Good season in his contract year. Keeping Noah Brown and adding Mixon probably means the draft will be mostly defense, although a wr who can carry the ball some might still be in the draft plan. Deebo like.

Roster is starting to look a whole lot more complete.

QB - CJ, Mills, Keenum (Boyle)
RB - Mixon, Pierce (Taylor, Doaks)
FB - Beck (Hairston)
WR - Nico, Tank, Brown, Woods, Metchie, Hutchinson (Bachman, Matthews, Johnson, Wayne)
TE - Schultz, Brevin, Teagan (Keene)
OT - Tunsil, Tytus (Zierer, Thomas)
IOL - Shaq, Kenyon, Juice, Kendrick, Patterson, Broeker (Eiselen)

DT - Autry, Maliek, Khalil, Hinish (Agim)
DE - WAJ, Sanders, Horton (Gaye)
LB - Azeez, Harris, To'oto'o, Phillips, Hansen (Haynes)
CB - Stingley, King, Okudah, Lonnie, Boyd, Ford (Hollman, Ross, Pride, Thompson)
S - Ward, Pitre, Stewart, Murray (Hill)

K - Fairbairn
P - Townsend
LS - Weeks

That's already 48 guys likely to fight for the roster before any of our draftees and additional FAs. If we can pull one of Hunter/Armstead and a safety then this was about as good of an offseason as you can hope for.

Per Over the Cap we also still have $40MM in cap space as well. I doubt they're done, I still think there's moves to be made. Houston still has the money if Caserio likes the opportunity.

If they do nothing else in FA, CB, WR, RB, and LB needs to be addressed in the draft.

I'm actually leaning more towards linebacker being best value at 23 assuming quinyon Mitchell and Terrion Arnold are off the board. Would love to add Edge to this group. Then you have 3 sideline to sideline physical athletes at linebacker with Harris, azeez, and edge.

Nick winning the long haul and not March, I like it. Mitchell is an upgrade over Greenard and not much more.

Great FA season so far, I'm sure a lot of these vets that get cut the next 4 months will want to play in Houston. That's the DeMeco effect.

DeMeco and Nick seem to be heavy "player value" guys and taking a LB in the first round is getting very bad value for the pick in the NFL. Also, we play a 4-2-5 almost 90% of the time, so the rest of our LBers are probably going to be journeyman types like a Denzel Perryman or a Blake Cashman last year to compete with To'oTo'o for the backup spots.

1st round is probably going to be a DT/heavy DE hybrid guy or a CB if one drops.

Should be best available. We have the QB to make the offense work, just add good talent where possible unless we are overloaded/logjam at a position (which we don't have).

But then you are a little redundant at DT since that is what Autry is. Need a big one next to him right?

Probably, but I was thinking of a guy like Robinson who is a DE or a DT. DT is probably the target for Houston at 23 if we don't sign anyone else, but man you probably only have 2 first round talents in this draft in Newton and Murphy, and then Sweat and Jenkins kind of sitting on the outside looking in (and they could go 1st or 3rd round depending who drafts what).

All that said, I still think we have a good shot at signing Arik Armstead when the 49ers actually release him to shore up the DT spot, or resigning Rankins who's still out there. And getting one of those 2 will give us a lot of flexibility in the draft
IrishAg

FYI, just saw that we gave up one our 7th round picks for Mixon. So, yeah, really good trade to avoid getting into a bidding war with other teams!
