It's actually quite funny ESPN keeps Kiper around. His claim to fame was being a "draft guru". Over the last couple of decades multiple people have come through that are infinitely better at the job. Yet they roll him out every year.
He's become skip bayless or steven a smith, just for the draft. He's a talking head that will cause "drama" with todd mcshayLB12Diamond said:Furlock Bones said:

I don't think anyone even listens to him anymore. I have not in a long time. No clue what his main talking points were this year. There are so many other options available now a days to listen to if you want to follow the draft live.
It's a good list but sad we missed out on some of the players I had in my mock drafts:BD88 said:

We have a ton of cap space next offseason. I wonder if we go after him.W said:
it was interesting that the Commanders declined Chase Young's 5th year option
He's slowly becoming the Lee Corso of the draft show. Hard to imagine it without him…..but he does seem to be slippingFurlock Bones said:

Yep - plus franchise tags. Seems to be somewhat of a trend of not picking up the 5th year options.MaxPower said:
The commies have a lot of cap space next year as well and no QB to pay. They can keep him if they want to.
I think a big part of him "slipping" is because football has evolved so much over time and he probably still has a 80/90's mindset of what good players look like at certain positions. I've never been real impressed with Kiper's evaluations anyways, but he seems more and more dated as time passes.dixichkn said:He's slowly becoming the Lee Corso of the draft show. Absolutely no massages for CJ. Let's not let him catch that bug.Texan_Aggie said:
Don't mean to be a negative Nancy... but CJ's story sounds a lot like Deshaun's draft stories. Let's hope it goes a different direction.

I think the point is that nobody had any character concerns about Deshaun when he was drafted or maybe even when he got his big contract. Came from humble beginnings, inspirational story, gave his first paycheck to cafeteria workers after Harvey. It felt good to get behind him while he was ascending because it was a feel good story. Then it became apparent he wasn't that person, or changed after getting a big contract, or a combination of both.LB12Diamond said:Texan_Aggie said:

It's funny you say that. What little I have seen from him I'm not getting any vibe that he has character issues. Appears to be man with true integrity.
I'm not going to become jaded bc of of what we saw from Deshaun. You can't live your life that way.
