Remember that the 3rd round has compensatory picks at the end. If the Eagles are picking 25th next year, that 3rd would be pick 89. About 15 spots up. Of course, if they're #32, then the pick is #96.

They have to trust their evals I guess. Kind of a rough pick with the Northwestern kid sitting there.

Any reason to think Horton would have not been there in the 5th?

If he ends up being right in his scouting then I guess it doesn't matter, but Caserio pretty consistently gives away value by chasing players that they like. Gives me previous regime vibes.

Had 4 sacks in the CFB Playoffs vs. Michigan. Of note, 32 QB hurries last season. He isn't getting home as much as the 10+ sack guys, but he is every bit as disruptive.

Lance Z's take…..

Horton is a base end in a 4-3 front with adequate upper-body power but a concerning lack of anchor as a run defender. He has room for improvement with hand usage, which could give his overall play a bump, but he might lack the requisite lower-body bend and short-area quickness to hold his own as a run defender. As a rusher, Horton's explosive take-off and power to play through a blocker's edge are both translatable rush traits, but improvement across the board is still needed for the pro level.

Sounds like a 5th or 6th rounder to me. Just a brutal pick with Adebawore, Phillips, and Zavala all going off the board immediately after.

Just got back form my 7 year olds birthday party. Wow, after taking a reach in Horton I love the next 3 picks in To'oTo'o, Patterson, and Hutchinson is a complete steal in the 6th round.
