I just don't see an OG as an impact position. Cincinnati made the Super Bowl with an atrocious OL. We desperately need playmakers. CB, DE and WR are where I'd focus in the first round. OG/OC in the 2nd or 3rd rounds. Obviously have to get a RB at some point too, hopefully early enough to get an early contributor.
Cincinnati made it IN SPITE OF an atrocious OL. That was luck, not a plan.

Luck or not, they still won, and the point is to get talent that has the most impact on wins & losses, especially at the top of the draft. I'm certainly not saying the Texans should plan on having a bad OL or neglect it entirely. Just that OG isn't worthy of a top 5 pick.
I get what you're saying...you can add interior offensive line later in the draft. However, that is probably their biggest individual need (MUST improve run game), and somebody like Ekwonu can probably play guard at a very high level right away, and then slide out to LT if/when Tunsil moves on at some point.

I would have absolutely no problem if they focused elsewhere at 3...they need help all over and there will be some really talented prospects available. I just don't think you can ignore the interior offensive line, which probably wasn't your point, but it kind of came of that way. Cincy's offensive line was garbage...but having Burrow and Chase can somehow override that most of the time.

Impact is relative in our case. Cincinnati is more of an outlier since they added a top line receiver to an already outstanding group of skill players on offense. I don't look at Ekwonu as, us drafting a guard, we're drafting him as a tackle, but it gives us a ton of flexibility in how we build our offense. Kind of like Travon Walker, a lot of people think the Jaguars will take him because they already have two high end edge talents on the team and Walker can play at end of 1st and 2nd down opposite Josh Allen and then move inside on on 3rd down/passing downs with Arden Key playing end next to him to use their talent more effectively to rush the passer. That could trump Hutchinson who is an end, and only an end. So you can grab him and upgrade your talent, but you have to potentially dump another talented that could make your team better but you can't use him anymore.

It all comes down to talent vs fit. It's why I hated the Clowney pick back in the day and wanted us to just go ahead and draft Khalil Mack at 1st overall. Clowney had a ton of talent (probably more than Mack), but he just never fit as well with our talent that was already in place like Khalil Mack would have.

Clowney vs Mack was a question of fit as they both filled the same role (pass rusher). That's not the case here. The question here is which position and prospect provides the most value. Taking a guy who you're going to play at OG at least for a year or two is just hard to justify to me. Rookie contracts are so coveted.

At #13, I'd be awfully tempted to take a WR if the right one is available. WR has arguably become the second most valuable position behind QB. Teams who have added or lost a star WR have had significant changes in their outlook (see: Cincinnati, Buffalo, Houston). Cooks is a concussion away from retirement, and even if Mills isn't the guy, the next one needs someone to throw the ball to. Pass rusher makes sense too though.

At #3, grabbing one of the two impact CBs makes sense to me. It's a big drop off after those two, and neither will be available at #13. And our CBs are just sooo bad..

I guess it's one of those agree to disagree things on that point. But I do see where you're coming from and overall, I'll be happy with just about anyone on the top 5 board that, isn't a QB, at #3.

NFL Network!

That's what I figured, just making sure I was in the right spot. Haven't cared enough to watch the last couple of years.

I find the booing to be a bit stupid at this point.

Stingley is injured too much. He's got bust written all over him. The Texans need to go OL.

So to plan, Walker to Jags, that means Hutchinson has to go to Detroit, and Houston chooses either oline or corner

Some buzz on Twitter that Houston wants Pickett.

I'm good with Stingley, just hope he's motivated. If he is then he's probably the best player in this draft.

whoa, Stingley's the guy that didn't want or bother to tackle the last 2 years

Exactly. He was insanely good as a freshman. Seemed to coast the last couple of years though.

Yeah, not sure about this pick. Seems like we've had our fair share of terrible experience before with questionable motor/motivation defenders selected at the top of the draft

That being a question is the only issue I have with picking him this high.

What's interesting is that Stingley is more of a man cover guy.

Biggest worry on Sauce, that no one seemed to talk about, is that he was insanely handsy in coverage. He's going to have to re-learn how to cover or he's going to be a PI machine. Once Stingley had a good pro day, a lot of teams apparently moved him higher (like the Texans).

I would have been good with either, but if Stingley is back to 2019 form he's the best choice for the Texans…really hoping he's back to 2019 form lol

Not sure I like the idea of taking a guy at #3 who's best season was 2 yrs ago. The lack of effort the last 2 seasons is troublesome.

I don't think so at all. Our CBs are absolutely awful, and there's a big drop off after the first two.
