It was pretty definitive that the ball hit the ground first before Evans got hit.

There's nothing questionable about the call.

Ball definitely hit the ground first. But I still don't understand the rule.

Edit: I guess it's because it's a late hit and I'm comparing it to targeting. Still seems like it should be a first down. I understand nfl and college targeting are different. But he definitely launched and hit Evans in the helmet. Is that not a penalty in nfl? If that was the call would it have been a first down?

I am so impress with the Rams offense.playmakers. The receiver and running back do the little things like block after a fake handoff.. gain the extra yards after a catch.. imagine if they had a good qb instead of Matt Stafford.

Sure if the penalty happened on 1st, 2nd, or 3rd down. Since it happened on a 4th down, possession changed as soon as the ball hit the ground and Rams get the ball after being penalized 15 yards from the LOS.
