Anyone else think he doesn't seem pissed off in that video?

Looks as if he's almost laughing like 'Why the hell are y'all filming me? I'm just out here standing around. WTF?'

Yep! He spoke at a Mega Church in the woodlands at their Sunday service not long after he got drafted.

I've posted my review of DeShaun's 2020 book "Pass It On" to Amazon today. I'm not sure it's going to make the censor, so I'm posting the raw review. You might remember me from such book reviews as Jamey Rootes: The Winning Game Plan, which remains the #1 review on Amazon a full 9 months later I'll let you know if the Watson goes live so you can star the hell out of it.

An Amazing Release from NFL Superstar DeShaun Watson!

I have to admit I was pretty stressed out when I first picked this book up. I had just gotten off a plane on the way from Clemson, SC, and I had a layover in Houston. My muscles were all tensed up and I just needed to relax. I was looking for a new book to help me come to terms with the fact that I had a long day ahead of me and my eyes fell on this cover: "Pass It On: Work Hard, Serve Others ... Repeat" by Texans' megastar DeShaun Watson, a Houston legend.

Like everyone else, I've seen DeShaun Watson's incredible career play out on television, but I don't really know that much about the man behind the helmet. What are his interests? How does he spend his free time? Does he have the same worries, doubts, and fears as the rest of us? Does he get tense and need a way to relax? I bet that's hard for a superstar like him, when all eyes are constantly following his actions.

This book is a top-notch read. I couldn't put it down on the airplane, on my uber to the hotel, even when I was getting a massage the next day, I was literally still thinking about DeShaun Watson! The title seems simplistic but the message really shines through.

Work Hard: If I've learned anything about Watson, is that he is a rigid individual when it comes to his routine. He gets locked in, and he will not stop until his goals are met and he feels satisfied with the results.

Serve Others: A really interesting take on the Golden Rule; the book preaches that in order to serve others, you must first serve yourself, and if that doesn't work or leaves you not feeling like your needs are being met, you may have to have others actually serve you. Brilliant stuff.

Repeat: That's where a lot of people fall short of DeShaun Watson's level of achievement. Say you do something once or twice, you probably feel pretty good about it, right? DeShaun Watson is committed to the things he believes in. You're doing something once? He's going to do it 28 or 32 times, sometimes TWICE in a day, just to show you how legit he is. That's what separates him from we mere mortals.

In summary, this is great piece of work. I wouldn't say I would force anyone else to read it, but I would definitely try to coerce them into taking a look, picking it up, and giving it a chance. It's that good!!!

Huh...can't watch the Texans game on FuboTV. When I switch to ABC13, it says the program is unavailable due to contractual restrictions.

I guess that's a good thing...

On a more serious note, I really wish Mark Berman or some other competent sports media person in the market would stand up for the fans and ask the Texans WTF they are actually doing this season. DeShaun Watson strolling around practice like a ghost, with 25 sexual assault claims against him, begging to be traded, by all appearances will never play for the team again, JJ Watt - the face of the franchise - done and gone and no talent brought in to replace him; pissed away most of our draft picks, lost DeAndre Hopkins in the second-worst trade in NFL history, have brought in a bunch of deadbeats to fill roster spots, head coach is a nobody. Would love a media member to stand up and say - how can you possibly justify asking your fans to spend their money on this trash heap with our only great player wanting out and nobody saying anything about anything with the season starting in a few weeks?

The Texans are entering late-to-mid 1980s Oilers territory.

I absolutely agree with you here. The Texans are a train wreck. The problem with Houston sports media is they don't ask the tough questions. If they do, they can get their credentials revoked. The Texans can control what gets out.

What exactly could the Texans say that would change your opinion of them? It's a cathartic question to ask, I know, but it's not one with a genuine answer that can change people's minds. They'll never give you a verbal/written answer that makes you feel better, but based on certain actions it appears they recognize all the crap you mentioned and are trying to turn the page on it.

I would answer your points as follows:

Deshaun - He is a walking liability, but also arguably the most valuable asset the organization has. You don't get rid of value for nothing and they've tried as best as possible to keep him from causing more damage (PR wise) while still retaining value. They recognize that the league will suspend him and/or he'll be traded, but in no way would a team ever admit this without being okay with a significant decrease in value.

JJ - They did right by the player and organization by recognizing he was an expensive and aging player on a team is a dumpster and is rebuilding. They gave him an opportunity to chase a ring while also freeing up cap space, so kind of a win/win.

Draft picks/Hopkins - They fired that regime and replaced with Caserio. Those are sunk costs, and they suck, but there's nothing really that can be done about it other than letting Caserio work his plan. If you believe Easterby is still pulling the strings, I hear your argument. I believe Caserio is in control. Who knows.

Deadbeats - Did you really want to sign expensive free agents to a team that will win maybe 4 games and is looking 3/4 years out in the future? Doesn't make financial or football sense, rather. Buy low with hope their stock goes highs while the players remain loyal to the team that "gave them a chance". If they suck, they were a cheap suck.

HC - He's not exciting, but he is someone I find myself wanting to root for (he seems like a genuine dude). At the very least, he provides entertainment and at least is nice to the media while sucking compared to BoB being an a**hole while doing it.

I think the team has been clear by their hires and roster moves that they recognize the time for winning is not right now, but that they are rebuilding for the future with, at least formally, a newish owner and new GM. I don't recall anyone in the org making grandiose statements about *realistically* winning it all. Fans are in a wait and see approach, my guess is the organization knows they have to win them back over and that will take time by winning consistently, not mapping out every piece of their vision.

You've completely missed my point. I don't want them to make me feel good, I want accountability for WTF they are doing, other than giving no information about any issue, letting Watson walk around during practice so he doesn't get fined, and pretending like they're going to be competitive.

I got your point. My point is with the changes they've made, it does seem like they have taken accountability. You can wish for a public speech or answer, but very few, if any, NFL teams would actually do that.

Houston is a fair weather sports town, on the whole. If they put together an 8-10 season, fans will be right back in the thick of it whether they've publicly "taken accountability" or not.
