A lot of BOB's deals created a ton of long term cap damage. By getting rid of most of those liabilities the Texans should be in position to have draft cap and salary cap over the next few years to build the team.

This isn't an easy process and I would bet that at the end of the next two years we are talking about them as a decent team in the division just as Tennessee's window starts to close.

For now, just enjoy the ride and look for some good young players that might be able to have a decent impact. Caserio might be making moves but, at the very least if he gets replaced the next guy won't have to jump in as deep as he has had to.

I agree with that from a pure personnel perspective when it comes to the draft, salary cap, etc. What about the reputation of the team?

Is this a team that good players will want to sign with? How long will the Cal McNair/Pastor Jack stench harm their brand?

Exactly. If the good team can only offer you $5M a year and the Texans can do $10-15, I think there's a good change you may not play with the good team.

But how good can the team be that pays that 2-3x what others will? I guess of a player is able to get that much technically that would be the market rate, but this team has a history of making terrible deals. Hopefully that Era is over but I'm not entirely convinced of that.

honestly, I think y'all are overthinking it. If Caserio ends up actually being good at this, the whole Cal/Easterby thing will not be a deal at all. This is the whole time will tell thing.

The players will come because the division is winnable for the foreseeable future. There are no top level teams here and a good rebuild will put players in contention.

I think we'll know what is up with this whole Watson thing. If they fully botch that then, I think this is going to be a long rebuild. If they get it right, in 3-5 years we are worried about trying to win the division and playoff games.

Crystal ball says: Watson gets put up on charges and the league voids his contract. No picks but no payments.

Hope I'm wrong on that one but if not then no less than 3 first round picks and 2 second round picks in consecutive years.

It all depends on the rest of the team. If it's a bunch of good young talent on cheap contracts, the team could be pretty good. If it's just spending money to meet the salary cap floor (i.e. Browns a few years back), then probably not very good.

The best thing that Caserio has done is position for the future. He's done a decent job of restructuring or moving players with the terrible BoB contracts such that after 2021/2022, the team isn't handcuffed to many. The guys he's signed are majority on prove it deals - if they suck, thanks for your year and good luck. If they're good? Maybe you can resign them.

All that said, we'll find out in a few years if Caserio's young picks/signings will "hit".

Last season i believe there were games that didn't have a single post during the game. Being the opener i think it will be over 20.5 but in the mid season there will be zero interest.
