Cam Newton just got released if we want to corner the market on agile black quarterbacks.
If the Texans were smart they would inquire about Cam. Great way to tank and sell tickets at the same time. "Patriots South" marches on.
I wouldn't be against it, but what do you do with Tyrod Taylor at that point? Texans would have 4 QBs on the roster (Taylor, Mills, Watson, Newton). Would they cut Taylor or Mills? You can't cut Watson since you still need to trade him.
If they can't trade Watson maybe they can trade Taylor. Low cost insurance policy.

Yeah that's by design. Get a bunch of older players on 1 and 2 year deals then rebuild once you have the draft capital back plus whatever you get from Deshaun.
