I think it would be a big mistake to draft a qb with the Texans pick in the 3rd round. Too much of a longshot to hit on a qb at that point and too many holes on the roster that need to be filled. My hope is that we use that pick on the best available defensive player.

What do you want him to say? Everyone knows the team is stuck until things settle with Watson.

With the 3rd rounder, they are targeting BPA since team is talent deficient.

Some believe there is a market for Watson despite his legal issues. Some teams are even still wanting Watson based on how they feel about his legal issues..

Could he be traded tonight, sure. Would I be surprised if didn't happen, no.

Agree. We're going to suck for a while. Why waste draft capital in rounds that, historically, produce backup QBs at best?

I have no doubt there are teams that would trade for Watson and weather the PR storm if they could get him for a song. The question is whether anyone is willing to part with meaningful assets for him right now. I doubt that.

Yes. The issue here is that if Watson plays, you get your best return in terms of draft picks (under assumption return is conditional picks). But, they may not be good picks given the team he goes to will be decent to good.

I also thought about a team potentially drafting who the Texans may want this year to hold until after 6/1 and legal issues subside. However, I think that would hurt both teams with dead cap hit, so don't see that happening either.

I'd have rather they trade him for some draft capital.

I thought all along they should've traded him as soon as he asked out. At this point and especially since he declined a trade to Carolina I'm fine with letting him rot on the bench.
