Doesn't help that Dak can't hit wide open WRs past 10 yards.

This team needs a coach and a QB, I'm afraid. It's a really bad combination right now. I'm really curious what has changed since 2016. Whether teams simply had an offseason together to put a book together on Dak, or if JG/Linehan are drowning him in complexity. Seems like it may be both. Whatever it is, this offense is garbage and he does not look like a QB you can hitch your wagon to.

Cowboys aren't even fun to watch anymore. Play calling is blah and pathetic...and the owner and everyone in that organization is fine with it. I'm convinced Garrett is a robot.

Dak can be efficient if you give him a good offensive line, good running back, good tight end and good wide receivers. I'm fine with him but that probably describes a lot of quarterbacks. I would let him walk if the price isn't right.

This looks to be a pretty miserable year. There are just no explosive players at wide receiver. I just don't understand why this wasn't addressed in the offseason.

Dak had all day to throw in 2016. The 3 games they pressured him the cowboys lost. He wasn't good. The o-line and RB in 2016 led that team and covered for a poor D and a poor qb. Now Oline is hurt and you can see the rest of the team is crap and coaching is awful.

Thought Sean Lee looked a bit off tonite too. Got juked a few times. Had 4 tackles?

Good news is the Giants actually looked worse than the Cowboys today and we get them at home next week.

What makes it worse is all of our historic rivals have actually done something in the last 25 years. Pitt and NYG with 2 SBs. GB with a SB (and that ****er Wodgurs squirreled another win out tonight). San Fran reached the SB. Hell, even the IGGLES have won a SB! And the Boys are a laughingstock.

Being a fan of this franchise is such a beatdown.

Was there not any extra money to get some decent receivers?

And any qb would be fine if they had all of the things surrounded him you say.

Pretty much the entire team was NOT ready to play. Complete BS that most of the offense hadn't even played since the 2nd pre-season game. What the hell happened to the JG that played his starters last game against Washington even though we already had our playoff spot secured. What, all of a sudden Dak & Zeke are such experienced veterans they are good enough to get it done cold turkey???

I'm not sure the gap between my passion for the Ags and my passion for the Cowboys has ever been wider. I played golf for most of the game yesterday, and then caught up on DVR. I was expecting an ugly offensive game and they were even worse than I thought.

2 thoughts:

1. I miss the Romo and Witten days. Sure we never won it all but they were exciting to watch. They're pretty much unwatchable now with this vanilla offense.

2. How bout TJ Watt getting 4 sacks for the Steelers !!

Hence why that organization has been competing for Super Bowls regularly and the cowboys haven't in 2 decades

Yup, same. After our game Saturday night against Clemson versus the complete BS we saw the cowboys produce yesterday... talk about a night and day difference in interest for me. Since I play fantasy, Ill still probably casually watch but Im not expecting anything out of this team this year and Im not gonna get tore up about the 8+ losses we accrue this season

If things go south these next few games I hope the Cowboys go into full tank mode. Last year they pointlessly won their last game and cost them draft slots, so I doubt they have the stomach for it over 10+ games. Still, don't put any extra miles on Zeke. Don't rush back anyone hurt on the offensive line. A top 5 pick would be great. Maybe grab a top, dynamic receiver like A.J. Brown. Then the best available TE at number 35.

I just don't see any hope of a turnaround when Cole Beasly is your number one WR option. There isn't a single defense in the NFL that can't match up and shut down these guys. While Dak is OK, he can't elevate them.

Dak and the receivers are getting a lot of flak which is good. They didn't play well.

But we can talk about our horrible ground game? Our offense is built for power running, and they looked awful. Between Zeke and the O line we're supposed to dominate the LOS, and we looked bad. We've sunk more money and draft picks into the running game than any other part of our team. If we can't even do that one thing, then we aren't going to win much at all this year.

Props to the defense though.

Saw this interesting graph. Sums up everything wrong with Dak and the offense right now. 5 passes attempted behind the line of scrimmage. 1 pass attempted beyond 18 yards. There is a lot of blame to go around when you put up a chart like that. Playcalling. WR separation. Lack of time in the pocket. QB not looking downfield or afraid to pull the trigger.

It is going to be a boring year if that keeps up. It might be for the best though if they get a top 5 pick.

LOL. Dak = VY 2.0. Will be out of the league in a couple of seasons.

Not willing to throw Dak under the bus yet. The guy made big time throws as a rookie. Down the field, over the middle, etc.

Not to mention, Kellen Moore is his friggin QB Coach. Heaven forbid JG not choose a rookie coach for our young QB.

Coaching could fix a lot that is wrong with this offense.

I'm a fan of Dak. He wasn't the whole problem yesterday, but he certaily wasn't good. There was no run game, suprising poor O-line play, and few open receivers. When they were open he was pretty inconsistent about hitting them. He looked more rusty to me than anything given the circumstances

Carolina has a really good D-line... very nasty up front with veterans like Peppers as rotational depth. They are a tough draw. It's up to coaching and game planing to work around it. Linehan was flat out awful in that regard.

Our o-line will be fine in general though, but we can't run the ball against a 8 man box with safeties flying up with no regard to pass. Zeke managed to escape the LB's a few time only for the safety to drop him after a couple yards. I only counted one deep pass thrown yesterday... that ain't gonna cut it!


And yeah, Dak was very rusty. The idea to play him, what, like 25 snaps in the preseason was a flipping joke. At this point the Cowboys need to invest into his development. We aren't going to be drafting top 5 anytime soon and we all know how hard it is to find a franchise QB. Dak has at least shown he's capable of that title, Jerry needs to get the right coaches in place!
