The tight end class is VERY deep this year. The Cowboys can go a few rounds before selecting Witten's successor.

Jake Butt , if he falls to the third or fourth, will be the TE we get.

i was told on this board that gavin escobar was a great selection in the 2nd and would be witten's successor.
And Gates. But your point stands. You don't just "plug 'n' play" HOF tight ends. Cowboys will be lucky if they can draft the next Doug Cosbie let alone the next Jason Witten.NukeAg10 said:
great tight ends are rare. you have gonzalez, witten, graham, gronk (past two are more wide receivers), and upcoming kelce, etc... then lots of solid guys who qb's make look good.
hopefully the cowboys can find another witten, but it took 8 (?) years for the cowboys to find another novacek.
not as easy as it sounds, regardless of how deep the draft is this year.
He would definitely be the ultimate Jerry pick. Guy that would have easily been a 1st round "do it all" TE that Jerry can take a flyer on. We will have serviceable TEs next year... Swaim was a real asset to our offense receiving and blocking before he got hurt.bonfarr said:Street_Cred_Norm said:

Will Butt be able to play all of this Season? He tore his ACL in their bowl game. I am tired of Dallas using picks on guys that need a red shirt year.

Take Sprinkle in the 4th and hope he doesn't shoplift any more.
