I will also contribute. I was let go in early 2025 and I took a job making 1/3rd of what I was previously making. The role is sales focused and I like it but the current economy does not make the sales production happen. I'm on track for that 1/3rd and not much more. It's been hard to say the least.

I applied for another job with salaries much closer to my former role. Idk if I'll get them but I feel nervous how it plays out with the current sales team I'm on. They gave me a chance and I'm thankful but I also have bills to pay and future(s) to prepare for. Not sure how you thread that needle if you get the job and don't want to burn bridges at the old job. Tough to say when it's a smaller industry.

I'm currently looking, because our department at the college I work for is having budget issues. I'm probably safe, but they'll probably lay off lots of instructors.

I'm also looking because my assistant went on FMLA, leaving me working by myself with partial coverage (instructors helping out); but, I'm doing 1/2 of the work by myself, because it is quicker to do it myself than train 6-7 other people.

Other departments in the college are flush with $$, as is the college as a whole. Looking for other positions within the college, or outside as well.

I wish I could find something remote, but that aint ever happening.

Thanks! It took a day for me to respond to the recruiter and another day for him but we have a call set up for tomorrow!
I am going to do minimal prep to get my talking points out clearly. The job is hybrid with 1 day in the office so that works for me.

If I get it, it better be at the top of the salary range (which would be slightly above the base I made in my earlier job). Of they go lower, then I won't consider if even thought would be still higher than what I make now. This current job has great people, awesome boss lady, doing cool AI stuff, and I have flexibility and above all, mental peace. No psychos where I work. That itself is priceless.

Moving into a new industry. Sent out 250+ applications via LinkedIn but the handful of interviews and phone calls I've been blessed with have all come from connections. Feeling hopeful about the opportunities out there. Hoping to move before the end of the year.

Glad this was posted due to timing. The company I work for is being acquired by a competitor; as long as governing entity approvals go through, we are looking at closing by the end of the year. This has me, as well as coworkers, planning for what comes next.

Thanks to whoever posted to the Aggie Network LinkedIn page and the Reveille Club; it will be advantageous to join both as soon as possible.

The industry I am in seems to be shrinking by the day, and if I am not brought into the new organization, I fear it will be time to look elsewhere outside the industry (offshore drilling).

I've been told this forever, but then ultimately we got to think about ourselves and our families. If you think the new position pays well and has a better future, then I think you should go for it. People leave all the time and I am sure your boss will leave as well if presented with a better opportunity. If they have a need, and you are the best fit, they will call you again. Companies never care about burning bridges, do they? It's all business.

My take: Don't work against yourself.

Just had my call with the recruiter of the company. He Zoomed me from Dallas. It was my first job interview since March, so I was somewhat rusty. I told myself that I didn't need the job, so there was no pressure. I am okay getting rejected. I am a good fit for the job but am I "over-qualified" or "too old"?

I am confident of being moved to the next round to talk to the VP but let's see if/when it happens.
