You might want to list:
1. What you are looking for.
2. Qualifications you have.
3. Etc.
Just asking if anyone is hiring is a bit too generic, IMHO.

Thanks for your help.
I want to stay out of sales if at all possible.
I'm happy to send over my resume.

OK, I'm not hiring. My point is you're not listing what type of job you're looking for. Just saying "I don't want to do sales" isn't telling us what you want to do. It's not giving us the qualifications that you have. And you may not know what you want to do. If that's the case, I would suggest talking to a temp agency. They can usually place you based on the experience you have. Or, at least it's an open door for an employer to test out who you are.
If I'm an employer, you're not giving me a reason to hire you.
It sounds like you're running away from a job instead of running to a job. I've been there and done that.
When you're looking for a job, you're selling yourself. You're selling the qualities that you have: your experience, your personality, your education, etc.
I'm not trying to bag on you, but it's a tough job market out there, and you need to look for ways that set you apart from others.

Answer: "yes"
Sorry OP but you have to make an effort.
