Husband got 3 days paid with my last 2 pregnancies. PTO with companies before that.

I worked for TAMU when I had my middle child (she turns 2 this year). No maternity/paternity leave, but you could apply for sick pool leave as long as you were on FMLA. The only stipulation was that you cover the first 80 hours either with PTO or take it unpaid. I ended up counting 60 of the 80 hours from various doc appointments from pregnancy. And then took 10 or 11 weeks off for maternity that got paid through sick pool.
I had zero idea that you could do this. I exhausted all of my sick leave and then some annual leave. I only stayed gone 2.5 months so I didn't burn it all but I didn't have as much left as I wanted. I had the ability to work from home but I didn't much due to some issues with my child and my lack of sleep.

Apparently not a ton of people know about it lol. It was nice, because i was able to save the rest of my vacation, and pull from sick pool to cover enough FT to retain my salary.

Edit to add- you amy have to be employed 02 in system. Not sure how all other parts of system handle this.

Work at a private medical clinic in Dallas. Zero maternity/paternity leave. You can use allotted vacation days and accrued sick days.

I think I have 5 weeks of sick days and 4 weeks of vacation.

We probably have 1 person from my department quit each year when they have a baby. They run through their paid vacation/sick days and then tell us they're not returning.

I'm in financial services. Primary caregivers can get 16 weeks and secondary caregivers can get 12. Secondary can take it anytime in the baby's first year, but the 16 for primary starts when the baby is born.

16 weeks for maternity; 8 for paternity.

Wife worked for a while at a European company that had to give American employees at least a year paid.

6 weeks paternity (this changed from 0 a few years ago, 12 weeks maternity). As far as I know it's a year maternity for outside the US, fully paid.

Does anyone's company not offer paternity, or small amounts (2 weeks or less)?

TAMU technically offers nothing in the way of paternity or maternity.

Husband's previous companies (Weatherford Intl, Lufkin/GE) offered nothing at the time he was employed

Army

Maternity Leave- 12 Weeks
Paternity Leave- 3 weeks

These both increased in recent years from 6 weeks to 12 and 10 days to 3 weeks. Deployments and training exercises can affect the 3 weeks depending on where you.

Either option- 12 weeks, if you have the sick/annual leave you are paid, if not you can stay out for 12 weeks with FMLA

I was allowed to spread out the 12 weeks paternity as needed.

I start my two weeks paid paternity leave tomorrow.

This will be my second year in a row. Now I'm thinking if I take it again next year, they will cancel the benefit because "people are abusing it."

Mine offers nothing. FMLA only. My husband had 6 weeks paid and I used PTO until exhausted.

3 days paid paternity if you can even call that a leave. Better than nothing, I guess.

That's what my husband got. It works well (in theory) with c-sections, because I was able to plan for him to be off work thursday-Tuesday without having to use his vacation.

Problem with kids is that God laughs at your plans. I went into labor the Monday before my scheduled c-section, so c-section Monday night. He was given Tuesday-Thursday off and took paid leave on Friday. My mom stayed for an additional week to help after that.

Better than my 1st though- he had no time off and took off Friday and Monday. Then they needed him back at work.

Also, just as an aside- if you have a coworker who is having a baby (like in hospital having the baby), don't text them work questions no matter how important you think they are. I got out of my c-section (2019), and had texts from work asking questions about something that someone else could have answered.

Kid 1: had to use PTO
Kid 2: wised up slightly and used PTO then Short Term Disability.

With both kids I went back to work right at the 8wk mark. I am the higher earner in our household, my husband also works and took a few days PTO to be there but that was all they'd let him take without hassling him about it.

Gotta say, of course I would do it again, but watching all those accrued vacation hours go away in huge chunks (twice) doesn't feel great. Hard not to be a little bitter when I see these guy's vacation accruals that are 2 and 3x mine. Hey, we all earned em - I just would rather have spent my vacation time on actual vacation!

This was less than 10yrs ago, Texas.
