Coding Boot Camps?

My biggest reason for going Udacity is the timeframe. Already being unemployed for 6 months I need the quick turnaround to get the learning/skills done in a few months so I can start the career. I was interested in the machine learning and data science classes as well but it says they typically take 9-12 months so I'm going the shorter route and hopefully once I am back on my feet I can come back and take some more classes to diversify.

I already live in Austin so I guess the market here is that much better than elsewhere in the state? I was considering moving back towards Dallas since it is closer to my family and friends.

I wouldn't say the job market is bad in Dallas or houston. However Austin has a stronger software community so there is a lot of demand and diversity.

We hired a guy about 6 months ago who did Hack Reactor's boot camp straight out of high school. He was the best applicant we had.

Also, from your experience, it sounds like you went through the same department as I did (ENTC/ETID). We're also desperately trying to hire a Software Engineer right now. How do you feel about Boston?

Yep, I graduated ENTC (EET) in '06. I'm trying to stay in Texas right now. My parents are getting older and my niece (10) and nephew (15) are in that age of wanting their uncle to see a few of their basketball/baseball games since I've lived out of town their whole lives. I'm already 4 hours away so I don't really want to move that much farther away. If you have any connections that want to hire down this way in say 3-4 months, let me know. I'm trying to burn through the lessons as fast as I can without burning out.

ENTC /TET. Plus 10 years experience was good enough to get me into Georgia Tech .

so don't under estimate your background.

Aaron,

I know little about this company except for a presentation from the CIO of MD Anderson Cancer center on facebook about blockchain and machine learning and democratizing heathcare... seems like a pretty frigging cool company. Couldn't find direct link but here's the facebook, watch cio chris belmont... https://m.facebook.com/cognitivescale/

I don't mean to resurrect this page. OP, if you are still on the fence about it, I am currently doing the coding bootcamp. It is with Tech Academy. I did my share of research about it and decided with them because I liked what they are offering in their program, and the cost is reasonable for me. I wanted to do Hack Reactor initially, but it is too expensive for my budget. I am aiming to finish the program in 15-weeks, but that entails an 8-hour study time. I have nothing, but a part-time job after applying for jobs since I graduated back in December 2015, so it is doable for me. Feel free to hit me up with any questions. They have a referral program too which will return a portion of what you paid for. Feel free to hit me up with any questions. Here or at esemarpee.14 at gmail dot com.

wheelskjm,
Sorry I missed the post, thanks for the info I'll have to look into it more.

Also since this thread is back, for any one looking at the UT camps in Austin or Houston. Based on arecruiter that emailed me looking for new teachers it turns out their run by a 3rd party not UT: http://www.trilogyed.com/ and their website has a little more info then UT's.
