I recently applied to an American Electric Power position for an Engineer Assc position in Laredo, TX. I got an e-mail saying that I was placed in the candidate pool for the position. The job posting has been expired and I want to know if anyone know any contacts that can get my resume noticed? This is a position that I really want and am extremely interested in.

This company takes forever to start the interview process but if you have been placed on the candidate pool you should get a call eventually.

I hope so. I know the company is very big so I'm hoping I will get a call but I'm assuming there were thousands of resumes put in.

This company also takes forever to get power to new facilities... Maybe when you get hired you can work on that!

Dad (Chem E '84) has worked for AEP for 30 years. Great company to work for and they really take care of their employees. I doubt he has any contacts in HR in the RGV, but if I were you I would check back in with the HR dept down there.

They have started the interview process. Did you get a call from HR yet?

I believe they are in the last week of interviews.

I applied to this position back in early July and checked my application status and it still says the job is open and I'm under consideration. Should I still be counting on hearing back from them?
