I hear some of the Top 10%'ers who applied early in August are starting to see 7 tabs in their Howdy Portal (i.e., rolling admissions are occurring).

yes - this is only currently for the Top 10%'ers.

So my Top 10% son who completed his submission over the past weekend should start keeping an eye on his portal for "7 tabs" as an indication that he's accepted to TAMU, but still waiting on ENGR school until later?

yep. that's pretty much how it goes. i would have him watch the AIS to ensure he has all of the red X's turn into green check marks. once that occurs, he will be evaluated and admitted (7 tabs in Howdy), and then ENGR does their own thing.

Once the 7 tabs pop up in Howdy, then he can click on the Overview link within there and he can see what college/major he was admitted to.

My top 10% son completed his submission on 8/1. He requested top 10% letter from counselor; that was uploaded yesterday but the status has not changed yet for him. He's also applying to Engineering.

Do they also need his transcript before admitting him? His high school doesn't rank students except for top 10%. The schools transcripts do not include class rank. That's why he requested the letter.

Did he also request a transcript to be sent? And did the school send the letter directly or did your son upload it? I think official transcripts have to be sent with class rank directly from the school in order to verify top 10% auto admit status.

Why doesn't his school just list rank and percentage on the transcript of the top 10%?

As aggiejohn said, private HS. They only rank top 10% and they don't put it on the transcript. He did not request the transcript because it would not have fulfilled the intended purpose… verifying too 10%.

HS counselor uploaded top 10% letter. Transcript hasn't been uploaded. Son can't send another request to counselor for transcript until 7 days pass from his last request to counselor for the letter.

Can counselor upload it without the request being initiated via AIS?

This is exactly why a school of our stature shouldn't have rolling admissions. I have heard of some schools in the state where counselors do not finalize the class ranks until a few weeks into the fall semester.

Having rolling admissions unnecessarily places more pressure on these counselors when they're already trying to manage course schedules, rec letters, etc.

Class rank was finalized by the school registrar in July. But I understand your point. I'm hoping the system updates tomorrow and reflects the class rank letter that was uploaded by the counselor earlier this week. I don't know why they're insisting on an official transcript. They have the letter.

They will be admitted to A&M first just like every other major and then it will say something about them being in Engineering review. With my kids they were admitted to A&M in late August or Early September and then officially accepted into engineering the first week of October I think.

Does your son AIS show all green check marks?

Yes, it shows his application is complete and in review.

We have two kids applying for fall 27. One is auto admit and the other is not. It will be interesting to watch how the process differs.

Our son is a junior in the Mays program. Our daughter applied to all her schools on Aug 1. for Fall '27 but is not top 10% (13%). Great resume but don't think she'll get into Mays. Hard to swallow. But on the positive she's already heard back and accepted into the Rawls Business School (Tech) and the Price Business School (OU). Fingers crossed for the Ags for she'll have many of other options I believe.

If she has a strong SAT and extracurriculars, maybe a job that dovetails into business… maybe? Good luck! We have a really good feeling about the one who is not too 10% because A&M ranked him top quarter (his school doesn't rank except for top 10%) and his SAT is above A&M average. But his fit-to-major is phenomenal because he's done two summer internships. Keeping our fingers crossed.

Even after our high school transcript showed received in my documents, it still took a couple of days for red x to turn to green checkmark.

All his finally turned green. Since he's an engineering major, he has to go through engineering department review. No idea how long that's gonna take. We're pretty confident he'll get in because of course rigor GPA and SAT score.

Just remember, if he gets the options for Blinn Team/wailist, CHOOSE BLINN TEAM and not waitlist!!

Like you said, as an aspiring engineer, he'll be going through Engineering holistic review but I'm sure he will be good-to-go.

Every year it's a little different, but as a point of reference my son got his engineering acceptance for TAMU in mid-September a couple of years ago.

so, our oldest is applying now. she is well within the top 10% (inside top 2%) but the application is not complete as the transcript/letter from school counselor is not yet uploaded.

is this common? Our concern is not that she won't get into ATM but rather that delays may make it harder to get into the business school.

curious what others have dealt with and if I need to contact the guidance counselor myself?

Has she requested those items from the counselor? How long has it been? I might be on the phone with the counselor if they're dragging their feet.

One of my sons applied to TAMU on August 1 and to OU probably a week to 10 days later. He's already been accepted to OU. We'll be lucky to hear from A&M before Christmas. He's a strong applicant, but has to go through holistic review.

My son applied to OU and that acceptance was super quick. He had also applied to LSU and I think they sent a weekly email saying he could still transfer and go there all the way until the end of his junior year at A&M. Then they started sending graduate school information to him his senior year. LSU definitely sends out a ton of emails. Those were his back up schools. He just graduated from A&M in May with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.

My son applied to OU and Ole Miss. Accepted on September 1st. My daughter was accepted at Mississippi State the last week of August. Other rolling admissions are much quicker. Hoping to hear about A&M this week.
Clemson, Auburn, South Carolina and UGA are November- December for an answer.


The amount of mail we have recieved from colleges all over the country is amazing. We have recieved next to nothing from A&M, Auburn or UGA. All schools my kids have applied to. The constant contact has gotten to my kids because the top universities they want have shown little to not intrest.

We'll see if some of the excitement comes back as results come in from the top schools.

Admitted!!!!

Now waiting on College of Engineering.

Same with one of our sons; he's also under engineering review. He's top 10%.

Other son is waiting for holistic review.
