This is a friendly reminder that if your student's application is not complete and ready by August 1st, they will be OKAY! Don't create extra stress and anxiety where it is not needed. Plus, there is no category in the scoring system that rewards students for submitting early!

Lastly, in the words of our VP of Enrollment, he is encouraging families to aim for September 15th.

I have one that graduated in May from A&M and one that is a current sophomore at A&M and we told them to have it ready and submit prior to their school year starting. That senior year gets really busy quickly so one less thing to worry about.

We have two boys ready to go this weekend. However, we will not feel obligated to submit a lacking application if we discover something missing. We want to have everything in order before hitting "submit".

The funny thing is that in the recent Camp Arch they did encourage the kids to be ready to submit on 8/1.

I have one who is about 80% complete with his application but hasn't hinted at any stress to submit on 1-Aug.

A&M is his back-up school, but is also his most likely destination - he's putting most effort into his Air Force Academy application at the moment while using most of that for his A&M/Common App as well.

One more thing to add to the "things we should change" thread. Setting up this false pressure to get your application in 3 months before most schools EA deadline and 2 and a half moths before UT is just brain dead policy. We communicate it terribly and it creates additional anxiety and pressure for no reason. I know for my son he had several things to add and change to his app to A&M vs his apps to other schools in that time period. He ended up applying around the first of September in the end and was an auto but was pushing for scholarship money. Just one more thing that turned him off about A&M. So dumb.

Not to be that guy, but our daughter submitted 1st week of October and there was no housing available when she finally was offered Blinn Team in the spring. If that is important that your freshman live on campus, I would recommend applying early. I was not prepared to send my freshman girl away to live in an apartment on her own on day 1, sorry. I was so sad but had to grieve the idea of A&M for her.

We are sending her to an OOS land grant university who offered 3 scholarships and 2 year mandatory live on campus.
