BEND, Ore. (KPTV) - At least two people were taken to the hospital and a suspected shooter is dead after a reported shooting at an elementary school on Thursday, according to the Bend Police Department.

Police said there is a large police presence in the vicinity of Silver Rail Elementary School, at 61530 Southeast Stone Creek Lane.

https://www.kptv.com/2026/10/15/bend-police-respond-report-active-shooter-silver-rail-elementary-school/

From a brief press conference (live stream got randomly interrupted by an ad for the Oregon AG's race)

1st call at 1PM for a shot fired into a car.
Officers arrived 2 minutes later, and quickly found the shooter was down.
The shooter was shot and killed, appears by a civilian, but the police are working to confirm.
Two people taken to the hospital, but other causalities.
No info on the shooter, the gun, etc., but he was killed inside the school.

You'll know by how quickly the story disappears from the headlines.

Remember the Michigan State shooter?

The New Orleans suicide driver?

That's how quickly and effectively the media memory holes stories with Non-Narrative Approved attacks

Claims are that a parent took out the shooter. Still early so who knows how accurate.

I thought the state of Oregon was a gun free zone.
My demon woke up this morning telling me he was tired. I handed him a red bull & said "come on little buddy, we've got chaos to spread"

He/she is probably fine. Bend is a normal city with normal thinking residents.

Like, Bend : Portland :: Lubbock : Austin

They are not releasing who shot the bad guy. Probably working on charges against that person for firearms violation knowing Oregon… especially hippy Bend.

3 kids and 1 adult dead per CBS. This doesn't include the shooter

When I lived in Bend, it was still a pretty conservative (very pro gun) area. It's definitely been infiltrated by the coastal types over the last 10 years, but it isn't Portand.

Plenty of "normal" folks still there. Deschutes County has gone blue the last few cycles, so im sure the courts and sheriff's office has gone down the same route.

Per ChatGPT:

Firearms are generally prohibited at Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend, Oregon, including for people with an Oregon concealed handgun license.

Will be interesting to hear why the bystander had a gun at a school and if he gets in trouble.

Hope the Good Samaritan had a concealed carry license. If not Oregon will go after him.

Hearing from a client (local to Bend) that this all went down inside the school. Ie, good guy was carrying on school grounds.

concealed carry is illegal on all public school grounds.

good Samaritan is gonna get hosed.

not to punish him for what he did, but to enforce their nazi nonsense gun policies so that other avenues to challenge them are not opened.

This should show the absurdity of gun-free zones and how the only defense for a bad guy with a gun (who doesn't care to follow the law) is a good guy with a gun.

I don't know about Oregon laws, but in some states, if the gun is inside your vehicle, it is legal to have "on school grounds" but you can't have it on your person if you exit your vehicle.

And like clockwork, the liberal ghouls have crawled out on social media to blame Trump, the 2nd Amendment, the NRA, gun owners, Republicans, etc. etc. etc.

And I'm sure he didn't give a second thought to putting himself in legal peril as long as he could save other children's lives. A man's man.

Nope, huge amount of sportsmen and carriers.

Concealed carry.

Open carry.

Open carry unloaded in some towns.

No reciprocity.

It's not all Portland and Salem trannies and liberal women. There are no men there. That wasn't an oversight.

We need to hear more details to know the true facts here (always beware the fog of war in these cases), but if all that is said is true, and the shooter was neutralized by another person with a weapon (whether technically legal to have the weapon at the location they had it or not), then any of you thinking the the person who neutralized the shooter will be prosecuted are out of your minds...

There isn't a DA in this nation who would prosecute someone who took down a assailant shooting innocent kids...

This country is ****ed up in many ways, but we aren't THAT ****ed up...

Any DA wanting to prosecute someone who stopped an shooter from killing a bunch of kids would face a tremendous amount of external pressure at local, state, and federal levels, and it would be a case they could not win...career suicide, if you will...

Now, we still need the actual facts...but if it went down as is currently being reported, the person who neutralized the shooter will be given a pass on any firearm infraction that might otherwise be charged...

ETA - I can only think of one situation where the person who neutralized the shooter would be prosecuted for a weapons violation, and that might happen in an instance where, in the process of neutralizing the shooter, he he caused collateral damage...

But even then...if he stopped the assailant, it would be a tough sell...

you are wrong. in a heavily blue state like Oregon and Washington they absolutely will fight to ensure that avenues to challenge their guns laws are not created, even if the lawbreaker had good intentions and did a good thing.

They may give him a lighter sentence, limited fine, or something like that, but they WILL prosecute to protect the gun laws.

liberals do not care about children. that is absolutely clear. but they do care about eliminating guns. eventually.
Rapier108
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Garza in Travis County absolutely would prosecute. He's already proven it.
