Well, Muslims worship another god. It is not the one true God. Just so there is no confusion.
Jews and Christians trace their religions all the way back to Abraham who was called by God to sacrifice his son Isaac. God stopped Abraham before the sacrifice and blessed him for his obedience. This story is told in Genesis. The Koran has essentially the same story, but instead of Isaac the sacrificial son was the eldest son Ishmael. The Bible even makes several references to Ishmaelites going forward, and the Ishmaelites became the precursors to modern day Muslims.
You keep saying it's not the same God, but it is pretty much the same God.
I'm not with you here at all.
They trace the same OT story initially, but they then rewrite scripture to fit their heritage. They choose a different branch. This is just one way satan deceives, by getting people to accept a different story. It is not the same God for if it were, they would also worship Him as God the Father.
"
Is this
what you do to the Lord, You foolish and unwise people? Is He not your
Father who has purchased you? He has made you and established you." Deuteronomy 32:6
It simply cannot be the same God as God chose His nation and out of that nation a savior and Lord who points to only Himself for salvation.
Muslims split it off at Isaac.
The blind who claim Jesus have a split, too.
It is truly no different than folks like Talarico. They have been completely deceived. Satan has diluted the gospel by separating Jesus the Savior from Jesus the King. The father of lies is completely content if people take Christ for rescue while refusing Him as Lord.
When the New Testament calls Jesus "Lord," it uses kyriosthe one who has the absolute right to commandand at times despots, a sovereign master. When it names a true follower, it uses doulos. Translators often soften that to "servant," but the word means a slave: one who belongs wholly to another and holds no independent claim.
Everyone serves a mastereither sin leading to death, or obedience leading to righteousness (Romans 6:1620). An employee works for a boss; a slave belongs to an owner. Scripture places believers in that exact posture: "You are not your own, for you were bought with a price" (1 Corinthians 6:1920). Jesus did not come looking for casual admirers. He called for total surrender. He bought you, and He owns you.
As Savior, He rescues us from the penalty of sin and gives unearned eternal life. As King, He claims allegiance and rules over all of life. A savior delivers; a king commands. "Jesus is Lord" is the fundamental confession of the faith. Yielding as a doulos is not an optional second step after saving faithit belongs to saving faith itself.
Jesus is both Savior and Lord (Luke 2:11). The titles name different roles, but they cannot be severed without dividing Christ Himself (1 Corinthians 1:13). Strip lordship from saving grace and you do not get a milder gospelyou get a counterfeit.
Paul's warning in Galatians 1:8 is severe: "Even if we or an angel from heaven preach another gospel, let him be accursed." He first aimed this at the Judaizers who mixed human works back into grace, but the point stands: getting the gospel right is everything. The line between the true gospel and a twisted copy is the line between life and death.
The God they worship is different and we know God does not change.
