Disagree with that, Europe has purchased much, much more hydrocarbons from Russia during this war than Trump. Some people just hate Trump.

A lot of Americans don't care about the Ukraine war, just an endless mess that needs to stop. I don't think Ukraine is winning and this winter is going to be difficult on the population. Zelensky is acting like a dictator and should have open elections.

When the EU banned energy from Russia early on, Germany simply rerouted purchase of the same energy via a satellite state of Russia. The virtue signaling against Russia by Europe was exactly that.

Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick Voted against the Big Beautiful Bill that passed.

Fitzpatrick and Massie were the only two House Republicans to vote against the final version of Trump's signature tax and spending bill last year. After initially voting for the legislation, the moderate Republican said he couldn't vote for the Senate version because it included steeper cuts to Medicaid.

I don't think Trump really cares about Russia or Ukraine. He seems to think he can get the US out of its problems (partly of his own making) by making as many "deals" as he can, even if that means playing both sides. He seems to be utterly obsessed with the idea of making deals despite the long term costs to the US and in particular the Republican Party.

yes, when it is coming from that TDS nazi and the Dems are pushing it.

the same dems that are pro Hamas/terrorism, pro-illegal deluge, etc.

If anyone other than Trump had proposed buying fuel from Russia, would you even be up for it? It's a bad idea on its face.

You kinda need both sides to be amenable to that for it to work. And thus far neither side has been. Ukraine has proposed freezing along current lines and negotiating but Russia has shot that down and demanded that their entire laundry list of demands be agreed to as prerequisite for even beginning negotiation. So I don't think that we're anywhere near compromise being a realistic consideration.

It's easy to say that but the logistics of both the constitutional amendment required and how you manage elections when 20% of the country is occupied and polling locations would be fat soft targets for attacks are anything but simple.

I mean, he did say that he and Xi are great friends and offer to sell them military equipment. Aligned may be a bit strong. But he's certainly not opposed to a closer relationship.

Let me get this straight...

Russia starts a war or aggression, then kills thousands of people over a 5 year span, and now we want to give them money for diesel, which they will use directly to kill more people.

Can anyone justify trump not being evil? This is the definition of evil.

There is more MAGA cope in this thread than I've seen in a long time:

1. "Europe buys more / Everyone else does it too"
Pointing out that European nations and NATO members still buy Russian natural gas, crude, and LNG (or that China is the "real winner" anyway) to excuse the US doing a deal.

2. "It's 4D chess for world peace"
Framing the move not as a transactional energy pivot, but as a brilliant masterstroke by a "dealmaker" to reengage the Kremlin, lay groundwork for diplomacy, and force a resolution to the Ukraine war.

3. "It's just a pragmatic midterms band-aid"
Admitting it's a transparent attempt to shave a few cents off fuel prices before the midterms, rationalizing it with a "Well, Biden did it with the SPR" whataboutism.

4. "The deal won't even work anyway"
Comforting themselves by arguing that Russia doesn't actually have excess diesel to sell due to wartime refinery losses and Ukrainian drone strikes, meaning nothing bad will actually happen because it's an empty gesture.

5. "Zelensky made him do it"
Shifting the blame entirely onto Ukraine and "globalist" European leaders for playing political games, forcing the administration's hand into unorthodox maneuvers.

Please keep it coming.

Yeah some of us have called this out for a long time for what it is. And globally oil/gas generally comes from 'bad people.' Not a lot of 'wonderful democratic/free' states produce anywhere near the oil/gas that we do. Castigating Russia as 'the one really bad people' we shouldn't buy oil from over forever-war Zelensky never made any sense at all.

And the house (nor senate) isn't even in session so whatever on that bill.

Elon also commented that Z has gone too far yesterday. He has a tool to single-handedly force Kiev to the table finally also.

Europe is also hitting a breaking point on diesel, with China now restricting exports. I am still curious if Trump will also act to restrict exports to them.

Trump is trying to look like he's doing something about fuel prices ahead of the midterms. Sleepy Joe sold off the SPR under similar circumstances. At least Trump's announcement doesn't matter since Russia has no diesel to sell. Even if they did Ukraine would probably blow up the tankers. Maybe that's Trump's 4D chess move lol. Hope we are paying on delivery.

So Trump is following Sleepy Joe's playbook of using the SPR to try to drive down energy prices in an election year. One policy is a brilliant move and the other was total stupidity according to some posters

Sleepy Joe sold off 180mm bbls in 2022 and this year Trump is SPR draining 172mm bbls based on current authorized releases.

I'd love to live in that dream world where we could spend money on butter rather than guns. But there are these people out there called bad guys. Bad guys will try to hurt and or kill you. They don't respond to butter.

The ONLY thing preventing Trump from aligning with China is a trade deal, same as Russia (which he apparently just got by lifting sanctions).

Biden couldn't spell SPR, though. Maybe Trump is just copying the Europeans?

Also, this was made possible thanks to Democrats supporting passage of the Lindsey Graham bill, fyi.

Most countries postpone elections while being invaded, including England and France during WW2. It's hard to hold a safe, fair election when you don't have control of your own country and the electoral process is subject to outside manipulation as well as enemy targeting.

Interesting that you call Zelenskyy the warmonger while he's on defense but do not make the same claim of the country that attacked his.

And the whole suit comment is the biggest giveaway that you are not a serious individual. Either that or you are easily manipulated.
