I think even the average person can recognize Trump is cutting deals with the strongman invading Europe in an attempt to relieve the energy costs of Trump's war

Yep. Pretty much the other 85% of Americans can see that.

Let's run this down.
The US is at war with Iran.
The war with Iran has cost us the lives of our soldiers and billions of dollars in damage to machinery and facilities in the region.
Russia is providing Iran with military assistance in their war with the US.
The US buys oil from Russia.
So we are now providing funds to a country that is providing weapons to a country that is using those weapons to kill Americans.

Is this what anyone wants? In case anyone wonders why Trump's approval ratings have plunged, it is literally anti-American stuff like this.

This is the level of stupidity we have come to for this administration. Funding a war against ourselves.

lol. We've done this under every administration for decades. Welcome to US foreign policy. It's what we do.

Maybe he is trying to bribe Putin to stop indirectly? It won't work. Putin knows the prize is to force Ukraine to submit.

If only the American liberals who support Ukraine had supported the expansion of US refineries, we wouldn't need to import foreign refined products.

While you may have a point here, the answer is not supporting international terrorism with a party also helping in a proxy war against us (Iran) directly with US commerce.

I for one am comforted knowing when democrats get control of the government again they will bring down diesel prices by raising our taxes, stopping pipelines, stopping new refineries, opening our borders to Muslim terrorists and illegals and criminals and letting Iran build unlimited nuclear weapons and missiles and drones.

That ought to make diesel cheaper just like they made gas and the cost of living cheaper in California, Philly, Chicago and all the other ****holes they have had perpetual power for decades.

Math wins. Canada produces 26-ish million barrels per year of Diesel. They are a strategic/political enemy at this point (as with Kiev), and don't represent an opportunistic ally to lower diesel prices.

What's the deal here? We buy diesel from Canada already, have sanctions against Russia, and are still a first line of defense for Europe. All of which have their own sanctions against Russia. This just feels corrupt / dirty.

Trying to make it look less like he's directly responsible for this whole problem by pointing the finger at Ukraine.

On the bright side, this "deal" is unlikely to accomplish much besides embarrassing us and making Trump look clownish as usual. Russia isn't likely to suddenly start the lightning war they couldn't for the last 4+ years.

Average person in the US doesn't care about your fan fiction of looking "embarrassed ". lol

Average voter already forgot the Ukraine

Not after Trump so conveniently just reminded them!

Russia is every bit as much of an enemy as China is. They're partners in crime (against us), and both would prefer we were wiped from the face of the earth.

Carney has had vastly more hostile rhetoric, and actions vs. America than Putin has since Trump was sworn in again. He seems happy and willing to sacrifice his country's interests just to prove his defiance even, on matters of currency, trade, defense, alliances etc.

I find it tough to see how Russia threatens American interests by comparison. They aren't even a significant trading partner.

Russia literally supplies intel, arm, and logistics to support the killing of Americans.

Meanwhile, Canada says mean things.

You are not a serious person. Russia doesn't have any meaningful diesel to sell. ZDS.

Nortex is serious
He is a seriously huge fan of Putin and Trump and has a serious hate for NATO and Canada in particular

Mr Global has certainly been banging that drum all day

It is sad whatever diesel they can export Russia will be getting full value instead of the Black market sanctioned price

The world would be better off if we pulled Russia out of Chinas sphere. If this diesel deal can progress that, then good.

And ending both these wars would be awesome. Don't care who wins in Ukraine war because it won't change calculus for us long-term regardless of who wins.

Ready for us to end Iran one way or the other.

It would benefit us more for Ukraine to win. Russia is already a puppet of China.

Russians seem to feel like this is a move to help them win the war, and that will provide no appreciable benefit for the US compared to the benefit to Russia. Russia will never be in our sphere and will never be a friend. They'll always go with whoever they feel will enable them to maintain control over their own sphere, stabbing backs and compromising governments as necessary. If we want to be allies with Russia then we'll have to align our interests with their goals. The reverse will never transpire.

Very likely could be so. I just don't care.

Reality at this point is a negotiated border. Neither is going to outright win so negotiate a border and end it.
