I love Rubio...but I also love Vance. And I believe that Vance's VP role helps more in preparing to be President than Secretary of State, which is why I suspect that Vance-Rubio will be the ticket in 2028.

Rubio is my favorite choice by far. Vance has too much of the stink of the swamp on him IMO. For better or for worse, he is going to carry the shadow of Trump with him into '28. Nature of the position I guess.

Rubio on the other hand has proven to be a very able statesman that that seems to be focused more on realpolitik than ideology. Something I miss these days. That will speak to more voters than Vance ever would these days I think. He is far more respected across the world too and that is just fact.

Rubio/DeSantis ticket pretty, pretty please!!

Rubio is my first choice because of how he's handled himself as Sec of State. He understands the threats our nation faces but leads in a way that's blunt about the realities - but in a diplomatic way that I think the average American can understand.

That being said, there will be no easy Republican victory in 2028. The media and the democrats will find a narrative to portray Rubio as a cold, awful, person and run with it if he's the guy. They do it with every Republican that's a threat.

The great thing is that the Republicans have a deep bench and solid candidates to run.

The Democrats.....not so much.

Have always loved Rubio, even when he wasn't en vogue around here.

His biggest hurdle won't be beating a Democrat, it will be winning over the MAGA voter who is skeptical of anything spoken eloquently.

The primary responsibility of the President is foreign relations, so I'd wager that Sec of State is at least as good preparation as VP when it comes to suitability for serving as President.

I like Rubio too, but he also has the baggage of the Gang of Eight immigration reform episode which was pretty short-sighted on his part.

Ideologically I prefer DeSantis, but Rubio is 1B in my ranking.

The outcome of midterms may guide the next presidential nominee. If enough people like Paxton lose, I think that bolsters the case for Rubio over Vance.

I also disagree that VP is a better stepping stone than Secretary of State. VP is the backup quarterback. He may see a little play time, but the Secretary of State is a starter.

It's a great speech.

I'd say Greek culture and philosophy is not "the foundation of Christian philosophy," though. Greeks and Romans held humanity to the highest esteem, which is incompatible with core doctrine.

We do owe an awful lot to their culture, though, in many ways.

In the writings of Paul it is fairly easy to see the influence of Plato, Socrates, Aristotle, Seneca, and others.

The Greek and Roman influence on Augustine and Aquinas, is also worth noting.

What Rubio is saying isn't a stretch, but I get your point.

Paul was learned in the teachings of Greek philosophers, but his doctrine wasn't founded on them. Rather, he knew how to make it relatable to his audience, which was also important to him. We see an example of this with how he appeals to the Athenians in Acts 17.

If the assertion is that early leaders and theologians used Greek figures and concepts to illuminate their points, then sure.
