When you make a spectacle of his execution you demonstrate his importance and induce an understanding that they too can be important in those that agree with him. It's not "nice" vs "not nice". It's this guy matters vs this guy is nothing but a corpse to be disposed of. They desire the spectacle and influence.

They should have auctioned off each roster spots for this grand event. Each winner could chose to use any weapon they own.

Our criminal justice department has become a joke. Public executions that demonstrate the consequences for violent crime would help reduce said crime.

The punishment needs to be so horrific that it enters their pea sized calculus when contemplating their life choices. Speak the language they understand.

There is no such punishment. They believe they are in a holy war. That they are on the side of good and death rewards them. You're allowing their evil to corrupt you.

One benefit of this being public is to display the gruesomeness of death that has been lost on a lot of the younger folk.

It's not SFX in a movie.

No excessive gore.
No seemingly deceased characters making a last second recovery.

Every person in the area will hear the lead-up cadence. Everyone except the condemned will hear the final execution order.

If they tune in for a plot line or a redemption arc, they will likely want their money back.

Agreed and this is not a deterrent for ideologically-motivated people. If anything, it makes him an even more famous martyr which we should not be supporting. Public castration of a violent rapist is a deterrent, but public execution it is not a deterrent for someone like this guy and just makes the administration look like the unhinged decisionmakers.
