Austin has a ton of issues. Not really sure how an outdoor music festival being muddy following some pretty good rain is a leadership failure by the city though.

Elections are when people find out what politicians stand for, and politicians find out what people will fall for.

It hasn't rained in nearly two months, so there's little to no grass to soak up anything. Explain to the class what you think the City of Austin could have done differently.

I don't think they put any down this year. They learned their lesson from 2019.

Huge thing here in Austin until people started to understand exactly what it was.

It's a liberal city. Libs are experts at astroturf.

They should apply their knowledge. But they are libs and have no ability to execute a plan. Just complain about how climate change has mistreated them.

Maybe water it some during the drought so there was still some grass established? They knew the location, they knew the date. Shirley they could have spent some city budget to make sure there was grass starting off.

I don't think spending money to water the freaking grass in a park is a good use of city funds. Granted, the City of Austin wastes their money on a ton of stuff. It watering the grass in a park when you're telling people they can water their lawn once a week isn't a great policy position.

They water the Zilker Lawn plenty and the grass was fine the last I saw it about a month ago.

The issue is that they tear it up every year for these large events and it takes a while to get it back in decent shape. It probably won't recover before Trail of Lights in December, so maybe next year.

The city gets their money, but they sacrifice their major park for months.

There's plenty to hate on Austin about but a muddy park after multiple days of rain is frankly a pretty stupid thing to get bent out of shape over

. I presented a solution as requested. And when has the city given a **** about citizen concerns or asinine policy decisions?

Thats nothing like day 2 of ACL 2009. Was a dillodirt slop fest but a blast. Stopped raining right when Dave Matthews came out.

You get 65,000 plus folks all day on any soaked parkland it's going to be a mess.

Surely Shirley didn't have anything to do with the planning (or lack thereof).
