I think I read where her daughter has now come around to her mom's way of thinking and is glad she was sacrificed for the "greater good". What that means is anyone's guess.

Her mom used to go to her school during lunch and said it was like a zoo. Her daughter told her it was like that everyday. Kids fighting, running around, throwing food, complete chaos. The staff just ignored it. She asked them why and they said "out of our control".

The parents send their kids to the school expecting the school to babysit them. When the school disciplines kids (because the parents won't), then the school gets in trouble with the helicopter parents for being too harsh. It's a no win for the school and the teachers. The union then steps in to say it is not their problem. The result is anarchy like you describe. This is the result of multiple parties refusing to step up, yet this lady seems to think it is a funding and racial problem. It should not take $50k/student to teach them basic math and grammar.

She's the founder of the 1619 Project, and you shouldn't. Her brain is so cooked she failed her daughter by forcing her to go to a ****ty school for equity purposes and she's not self-aware enough to realize her entire ideology and world view is garbage.

The federal government has no business in public school education. Even state control is problematic. The best model for public schools were the ISDs in the 1960s which were as good (even under state control) as most private schools today.

Other way around. The mom came around to the daughter's way of thinking. She admits she made a mistake sending her daughter to the crappy school. The NY Times article ends with a quote from the daughter saying she wished her mom cared as much for her education as she does for every other black kid. It was kind of sad.
