Excellent news. The Arctic and Greenland is too important to ignore for Fortress North America.

And everyone gets what they want. Denmark gets to be nominally in control and pay the welfare of the locals while we actually control the island and can establish robust defense platforms there and keep China and Russia and BRICS out.

Heck of a deal if you ask me. No money out, and the U.S. doesn't have to get permission from Denmark or Greenland to authorize new military bases. We can build them when and where we choose. If Greenland ever declares independence from Denmark, the agreement still holds.

It's not a treaty ratified by Congress, I don't think it really carries much more weight than most of the other "deals" we have seen.

And we didn't have to pay them a penny for the right.

It also keeps Russia and China out - permanently. This is huge for U.S. national security. Greenland won't become the Panama Canal 2.0.
