If things are as rosy as claimed in the OP, then the Republicans are a lock to expand their majorities in the midterms because voters will reward them.

And that pesky consumer survey that just recorded its second-lowest reading ever must just be a figment of someone's imagination. Created out of thin air simply to throw shade at Trump.

Lol, the spinning is reaching new levels of delusion when diesel is at $6, mortgages are at 7%, and more people than ever are buying groceries on "get now, pay later" credit.

We have the richest and fattest poor people in the world.

And "affordability" really means "I don't have enough money at 25-30 to live like a king." I quit caring about people who whine about "affordability" when the same people spend tons of money on the latest cell phones every year, nicest cars, 2-3 vacations a year (many overseas), order Door Dash at least once a day, spend $20 a day on coffee, etc. etc. etc.

Frankly, I'm not sure we really know what the truth is anymore on much of this. We have so many conflicting economic metrics that you can't really make sense of it all.

That's one reason why we see the K economy in the headlines because it explains some of that seeming conflict, but not all of it.

Poverty is down, median income at record, and wages are beating inflation. Not sure how to convince someone who is delusional that what they believe is not real.

Real wage increases this year have not kept up with inflation. That's the number to look at.

Real hourly wages down, but average work week longer. People working more hours to make ends meet (second job, overtime, etc.).

I don't doubt the census numbers ... the problem is they are an incomplete picture. They only show a snapshot of the "inflow" part of the equation.

In 2020 the average household income was listed at a shade above 85K ... so the 87K+ is a roughly 2.6% increase since.

But now let's look at the "outflow" ... food prices over the same time period have gone up over 30%, housing about the same., etc

Therein lies the problem.

Per the BLS average hourly real wages decreased year over year compared to August 2025. The average work week increased which made up for the loss.

Real wages already subtract inflation. You're arguing CPI is too low - that's a different claim. Bring a better price index.

I don't believe in this rosy picture. So many people I know are struggling still. Many have given up looking for a job.

We are still in deep sheet. These stats are cooked up in creative ways.

Example:
I have $300k with me. If I tell people that, no one is impressed.
So I buy a $3 Million house with $2.7M mortgage. Now I am able to impress everyone with my fancy house!
Everyone thinks that I have made it. The loan you say? I will figure something out...later

On average, 20 million people are fired each year... in a NORMAL year.

Knowing people who have been fired and are unemployed in any given year is pretty normal thing.

The only thing concerning to me is that companies are not hiring new grads at the same rate because of AI - 5.6% UE versus overall of 4.2%.
