Just opened this thread. Lucky to have never encountered such an idiot on a freeway, but just yesterday I played chicken with a pair of scooters on a busy multi-lane side street. Lead rider was visibly laughing as he passed head-on with maybe a yard of clearance. Figured they had warrants or multiple DUI's. I didn't attempt to swerve because if they're stupid enough to be going the wrong way in traffic on a scooter then they're stupid enough to swerve in the same direction as me, like the deceased mopac guy apparently did.

Stupid happens, like a lot. And you can't fix stupid.

Some of you wouldn't survive in other countries. Bikes, mopeds, etc

When I lived in SF, bicyclists used to pick and choose the rules they followed, and would even drive in 3 lane (each way) major roads through the city, and would change lanes in and out as if they're a car through heavy traffic. Maybe carry some bricks to accidentally drop or something? Since there are literally no rules and enforcement, why would they ever not be *******s? So it's up to us to keep the streets safer. Ill have to start walking around dressed as a batman. We need heroes in the worst way...

These ****ers are dangerous. I honestly don't really care about the danger they put themselves in, but always having to be aware of them going almost the speed of traffic on walkways is ridiculous. I'm constantly have to keep an eye out to pull my dog back to me at the last second, or keep from being sideswiped as they laugh and speed off. Even hiking. Had one plow through me going full speed down a trail that was barely wide enough for a person, let alone a bike. I didnt see him coming. One second just strolling down the trail, the next thing I know im face planted on the ground along the side of the trail, only to look up and see a bicyclist flying down the hill. Didnt look back, didn't even slow down. F them all.

I don't ride a bike. However, everything you posted can be applied to cars as well. There isn't a single day that I don't see car drivers only obeying the rules they want to. Stop sign - blow through it. Red light - don't want to wait for the next one - blow through it. Weaving all over the road while engrossed by their phone. Yesterday, I saw a guy almost rip the front end of a car off as he cut them off while taking a right exit ramp from the left lane. Stop in the middle of an intersection when they don't know which way to go - no problem. Reverse on the highway when they miss their exit - awesome. Drive the wrong way down a divided highway, almost been killed multiple times by people doing this.

I did see someone on a scooter doing about 70 on an unrestricted portion of the autobahn several months ago.

Of course it can be applied to cars.
But car vs car, you have a decent chance of making it.
