I would like you to name 100 people who have done more for America than Dolly. The amount of philanthropy she has done is tremendous. Every student in the state of Tennessee gets a book from her foundation every year. She has donated hundreds of millions of dollars specifically targeting literacy and has done so quietly. Just calling her a celebrity is exceedingly short sighted. She isn't some instagram influencer. She is a true American hero and we were lucky to see it with our own eyes.

You are missing the point. Half staff is not for a celebrity, or even "an American Treasure". It's not because millions of people are upset over a death, It's also not for COVID victims, school shooting victims, or any other cause de jour reasons a President thinks will garner him votes.
