The article is long but what I understand is legal immigration across all categories would be restricted. Good. America is not a hotel for everyone in the world.
Of course Forbes has to throw in that US will suffer labor supply problems and growth problems because Forbes hates Americans.

Trump Officials Now Restricting All Legal Immigration Categories

Summary
The Trump administration is implementing widespread restrictions on legal immigration, affecting U.S. citizens sponsoring family, employers, and various visa categories like Diversity Visas and refugees. Led by White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, these policies include application freezes, a stricter public charge rule and changes affecting DACA recipients. Analysts from the National Foundation for American Policy project a 33% to 50% reduction in legal immigration, totaling 1.5 to 2.4 million people, by the end of Trump's term. This is expected to harm the economy, including a potential labor loss of 19 million worker years by 2028 and a $1.9 trillion reduction in goods and services. Several lawsuits are challenging the measures.

The Trump administration is restricting all legal immigration categories in an effort to reduce the flow of immigrants to America. The restrictions include freezes by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and State Department officials refusing to process applications abroad. The policies affect U.S. citizens sponsoring spouses, children and other family members to join them in America, as well as employers seeking workers. Analysts note the U.S. economy requires more workers to grow, but the administration's actions reduce the labor supply.

Led by White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, the chief architect of Donald Trump's immigration agenda, the policies are having a significant impact. "The Trump administration's policies will reduce legal immigration to the United States by an estimated 33% to 50%, or by 1.5 million to 2.4 million legal immigrants, by the end of Donald Trump's four-year term," according to a January 2026 National Foundation for American Policy analysis.

An earlier NFAP report factored in labor contraction due to other immigration policies, including on deportation and ending Temporary Protected Status, and concluded, "Due to fewer workers in the labor force, the Trump administration's immigration policies would lead to a potential labor loss to the U.S. economy of approximately 19 million worker years by 2028 and 102 million worker years by 2035. The policies would reduce the projected cumulative goods and services produced in America by $1.9 trillion, or $5,612 per person, from 2025 to 2028, and by $12.1 trillion, or $34,369 per person, from 2025 to 2035." The analysis found the policies would also reduce economic growth by approximately one-third and increase the federal debt.

I don't know why these clowns always look to foreigner workers. We have so many unemployed Americans who cannot get a job as companies only want to hire foreigners.

Immigration Restrictions Cut Across Categories
The Trump administration's policies affect all immigration categories. Trump officials have refused to process cases for approximately 55,000 Diversity Visas, a category the administration sought to eliminate during Donald Trump's first term. Instead of trying again to change or abolish the category through legislation, officials have barred anyone from entering or adjusting status as a Diversity Visa winner. Then-DHS Secretary Kristi Noem justified suspending the category by citing a shooter at Brown University who gained permanent residence in the Diversity Visa lottery eight years earlier. The individual killed two people at Brown, an MIT professor and himself.

We need to shut down all immigration for about two decades.

Great news. I hope there are no insurmountable legal challenges and the Trump team has figured it out.

But.. along with this, I want the LEGAL people who are not citizens/green card holders to be given their pink slips unless they are super important. How to know that? If their company is willing to pay something to keep them.

"They" are "we". "We" voted for it. Finally, a President who is taking care of the problem. That's why "We" voted for him.

We're OK with legal immigration. We're also OK with cutting that **** in half.

It's a win-win.

Tissues are at the door on your way out.

Honestly, what gives you any confidence Trump's team thinks through legal barriers before taking action?

It has always been shoot first ask questions later process.

Where did you see the word "eliminate"? Since you don't seem to understand percentages, 50%<eliminate (100%).

The US doesn't have a labor supply problem. It has a corporate greed problem with wanting cheap labor. That goes from farm workers all the way through programmers.

Well, maybe there would be problems with farm workers, but it started out as cheap labor versus US labor and now we're stuck.

Stop all immigration for 10 years. Those who came here illegally in the past 10 years have six months to sell their possessions and leave. Failure to do so means they forfeit anything they own and can never return here, not even via the proper process down the road. As far as the "labor shortage" goes, stop any and all assistance to the able bodied people in this country and if they want to eat, they provide the labor at whatever the going rate is.

The world has a limited supply of the best brains. America has, traditionally, done a good job of creating a disproportionate concentration of innovation and prosperity by importing the best brains that other countries would turn loose. I see no reason to interfere with a system that works.

You're not going to build either the Manhattan Project or the Apollo program without immigrants.

When there has been a flood you have to restrict the flow for a while. HTH.

OTOH, how about we do something that will actually make a difference? Namely, start cutting the handouts. Next dem admin will reverse all of this on day one. Top priority should be cutting spending. And first thing on the chopping block should be eliminating the handouts that cost the taxpayer a fortune, allow parasites to live off of the labor of others, and serve as a magnet to the flood of third world immigrants. That is the single biggest source of our immigration problem.

Who's going to work in the Nike and glue factories that Trump is forcing other countries to build in the US?

You're not going to build either the Manhattan Project or the Apollo program without immigrants.

On the flip side:

You're not going to build either the Manhattan Project or the Apollo program with the low skilled pool of immigrants the US predominantly imports.

In addition, the US did not import millions of people to build the Manhanttan Project and Apollo prgram. It was extremely selective and should continue to be extremely selective.

Also, given today's technology, there is no need to import non-laborers unless you are concerned about security, but in that case why would you rely on (put your trust in) a temporary foreign national?

Honestly, I think that the free market in labor should be allowed to determine the level of immigration. We seem to have demand for additional labor in senior care, agriculture, construction, and hospitality.

We are, we just want to restrict the flow. And actually vet incoming residents.

One day you're gonna learn to read and use that brain of yours, I just know it. But let me symplify it for you...

Person A: Wants 10 Million legal immigrants a year.

Person B: Wants 500k legal immigrants a year.

While I happen to think the Person A's take is crazy, both are in favor of legal immigration. Does that make sense to you?

The chain immigration in Dearborn, Minneapolis, and the DFW area.
