What happened to OTB? It used to be pretty good for cheap-chain TexMex but there was a sharp decline in the like 5-10 years...kinda similar to Pei Wei.

Ha. Zima was one of the worst things ever concocted. As is Red Bull but somehow the latter has survived. No idea how people drink that.

I finally ate at Lalo's in Madisonville this week. Good food. Great prices. Good service. Would choose that over OTB any day.
The danger to America is not Biden/Harris but a citizenry capable of entrusting them with the presidency. It will be easier to undo the follies of their ideas than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to an electorate willing to have such a pair for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Biden, who is a mere symptom of what ails us. Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that put them in place to lead.

Same. Their lettuce wraps were as good as PF Changs. Then they started tasting like dog food.

I haven't eaten at OTB in a long time, but I always liked their food. It wasn't the best food in the world, but abotu what you'd expect at their price point (back in the day). They had good chips, salsa and fajitas. Sad to hear they went downhill.

Yeah, much of their stuff was PF Changs level, now the quality has taken a huge dive. Even though you ordered at the counter, it still kind of had a sit down restaurant feel and there was silverware and real plates...now it is all plastic crap. I haven't been back in years.

OTB kind of went the same way, pivoted to plastic eating utensils and saw a steep decline in the quality of food.

I only ever ordered one thing at OTB...ranchiladas. Cheese enchiladas with beef fajita meat on top.

Then they took it off the menu.

It was the only halfway decent meal I could tolerate there, and they took it off the menu. Not that I was a regular customer, or even semi-regular customer. We maybe ate there a couple of times a year or so. But still, to take the best thing you have off the menu is very Taco Bell of them.

Between covid and inflation I'm surprised more places aren't calling it quits.

I mean, the food was terrible. But that seems pretty common at a lot of restaurants today. Covid set the restaurant industry back to McDonalds level. My wife and I hardly eat out anymore b/c we don't want to pay $70 to drink water (we hardly every drink alcohol) and eat bad food.

Why you bringing Chili's into this?

The service also sucks now too at every chain but roadhouse and Waffle House.

Sir, I'll have you know the Chili's here in Bixby, Oklahoma is solid! Can't beat that Three for Me deal….

My biggest complaint with OTB was the fact they used instant rice. We did the same when I worked at Applebee's in the 90's and early 2000's and I hated it there too.

To echo someone else's sentiment about taking the best item off the menu (I think they mentioned the Ranchiladas), they also used to have the "Corona Extra Dinner"

The CE dinner was my go-to 15-20 years ago, it had a chile relleno stuffed with grilled chicken and also two chicken enchiladas and rice/beans. I would eat the relleno and some of the beans (not much of the nasty rice) and then save the rest for lunch the next day. It was a hell of a deal for $10.99 at the time.

Hey, a French Manhattan is a pretty good drink:

  • 2 oz bourbon
  • 1 oz Chambord
  • 2 dashes bitters
Shake with ice, strain into a glass.

And outside their gringo flour tortillas (which make sense for them), their foods add good as any for the price point.
