Bottom Line: The Left ruins everything they touch.
When the truth comes out, do not ask me how I knew.
Ask yourself why you did not.

Actually, the third verse of Deutschlandlied is the official German national anthem today.

Same Haydn melody as in the Nazi era as well.

Other Nazi tunes, for example the Horst-Wessel Lied are truly anathema, however, and I believe officially banned by law.

The Haydn melody has been used for a lot of things including church hymns

That sheet music is a Sacred Harp tune (Beach Spring) with the same meter.

Haydn's melody is usually listed as "Austrian Hymn" in hymnals (Glorious Things of Thee Are Spoken, etc.).

The version of Bonnie Blue Flag from the other Civil War movie, Gods and Generals, is the one I expected.

Whoa... I didn't know Ted Turner was a Confederate Officer.

I had a German guy who worked for me who was from the Southwest part of Germany.

He did tell me about the fact that there were verses of their National Anthem that you're not allowed to sing. I guess every once in a while things like that show up in movies.

The first two stanzas of Deutschlandlied are fairly horrible. Although, it should be noted that "Deutschland, Deutschland uber alles" does not really imply "Germany above all you other sucky countries" (that would be uber allen). The original idea was that loyalty to the German nation should be above your loyalty to Schleswig-Holstein or whatever.

The second verse is all about German honeys and German booze.

Over the years I have had either a Bonnie Blue or Stars and Bars flag sticker on my car and have never had any problems at all. Why? Because the useful idiots, karens and perpetual victims don't know what they are and/or haven't been told to be offended by them.

It's really comical that it was no big deal in the 60s and 70s, really into the 80s, but the further in time we get away from the it, and the further in generations we get away from it, the flag and imagery has become a bigger deal due to political correctness, perpetual victim mentality, and a bleeding heart apologist mentality.

It is being proven daily and moreso will be in the future that the view of the CUSA on the relationship of state vs federal government and the role, responsibility and power of the federal government was correct.
