Inflation is bad because of Iran and tariffs.

Sometimes it really is that simple.

It is not proven or even likely that inflation is "bad" because of tariffs.

Inflation is caused by printing too much money.

This.

This might be a stupid question, but can the Fed enact a controlled, mild deflation to reverse any of this? I understand somewhat that a deflationary spiral would be catastrophic, but can they somehow do it mildly and avoid the negative consequences?

Our government just will not stop printing money.

This is playing chicken with the economy.

When the game is how close do you get to the edge of the cliff without falling off into the Grand Canyon, pretty stupid to try to stop when you only have two wheels left on the ground.

Hey, gas is cheaper than it was under Biden.

Yes, housing is more expensive. Beef is more expensive. Anything that is imported from other countries is more expensive because of tarrifs. Shrinkflation (getting smaller amounts of things for the same price, so, still losing out) is very much real.

But, again, gas is cheaper than under Biden.

The bold is overstated.

Housing is more expensive due to Biden allowing 20M new illegal aliens into the country. Trump is fixing that.

Beef is more expensive because Trump is cleaning up the mess from all the illegal aliens moving into the country, and processors are temporarily making monopoly rents until competition can bring them down.

Part of shrinkflation may be influenced by GPL-1s.

That said, Trump is still spending too much money. Just like Biden.

Did someone forget to tell that that also during his 500 days of maga prices for almost everything are still higher than before?

Actually, I forgot he doesn't care about higher prices. But, yes, DEI, the LGBTQXYZ+@FML and culture war things mean much more to people than having less money in the wallets. So, yeah.

My wife just read an article that restaurants are having to adjust their menus because of GPL-1s. They keep asking for smaller portions than normal menu portions so restaurants are adjusting accordingly. I'm sure they love that because they aren't going to lower prices along with it.

So, fat people still screwing us over even when they aren't fat anymore.

1) The closure of the borders and all of the voluntary and involuntary emigration in 2026.
2) A 0.01% increase in inflation caused by him.

Ditto. An open border is an existential crisis for America. It should be the most bi-partisan, black and white issue that we have. Unfortunately, half the country wants to destroy it now.

What portion of the US COVID response was specifically Trump?

Mostly COVID response stuff past summer of 2020 was from the states.

To be clear, I hate the big beautiful bill and the stupid spending of Trump, and blame him for some of the current inflation, but the majority of it comes from spending from 2021 - 2025, terrible Iran policy pre-2026, and terrible border policy since the 1990s.

Fair enough.

Is that all, though?

That is what is causing the majority of the 2026 inflation? M2 expansion in 2020?

Generally, was an expansion of the money supply at all warranted given the global response to COVID (ignoring the amount of the expansion)?

His names on the checks didn't mean anything. The size of the monetary expansion was not great.

No argument with you on Fauci.

Who would have handled it better? Which supreme executive globally in power at the time did a better job?

Monday morning QBing is easy now that the uncertainty is gone. People forget how bad he was getting beat up on Russia Russia Russia and how much the public sentiment was for panic. Most of the panic was enacted at the state level.

But, it is a pretty far reach to say that most of the 2026 inflation was due to the CARES act.
