This. North Korea is the textbook example of why we needed to attack Iran. I don't think regime change is feasible without committing ourselves to 20 years of occupation, but we can break their nuclear toys. We will have to keep doing it periodically, but that + beefing up alternatives to the strait are massively cheaper in $$$ and American lives than an Iranian occupation

Else, you can take your woke hate somewhere else cause you certainly aren't interested in discussing with your projections of things not said or felt.

It's relevant to what I said that North Korea has a history of saber rattling until they get what they want. It's usually associated with political discord or some sort economic issue or famine.

Ok, but the relevance of funding over 23 years from over 20-30 years ago seems a bit… irrelevant.

They have nuclear weapons and missiles? They are run by a dictator who thinks he is descended from the heavens, but just let them be.

They also support other bad actors who have directly attacked us.

And the People's Republic of Korea is NOT an ancient civilization no more than I can claim to have built the ark and written the Bible.

The Korean people have been there for 1000s of years. They've built their culture without YOUR input for generations.

Why do you claim to know what's best for them?

Wait… are you implying that the Kim hereditary dictatorial dynasty and its oppressive communist government are somehow historically cultural aspects of the overall Korean civilization that ethnic Koreans are (anciently) tied to in some way?

I don't know what your point is. My point is clear: any time these nutcases get into a bind they make threats, shoot missiles, etc, and the west ends up giving them money. I'm not arguing with you. I'm not contesting your position. Im not trying to convince you of anything. I'm just saying that something likely is going on internally and it's the same old ball game.

I think someone got their facts from the Greatest History of Korea According to the Kim Family.

Not sure they realized original dear leader Kim Il-Sung was born a Christian, fought the Japanese colonists, killed all his rivals with the help of Soviets and China, was handpicked by none other than Stalin, then developed a fantastical story of how he descended from the mountains Moses style to lead the Koreans in perpetuity under the concept of Juche.

Bizarre takes are bizarre sometimes.

You do spout some verbal diarrhea devoid of all logic and facts regarding Korea then lead with some white man hero complex without knowing my skin color or how I identify.

I said be successful in life, I did not define that as having money and think its shallow when people do, but you do you. And Fridays are a workday? When you are monetarily successful workdays are a very fluid concept, though it's still not what this thread is about.

Your solution is to isolate and let other countries decide our futures for us. That's certainly a perspective and other folks share it.

But you don't seem interested in thoughtful discussion so this is the ask that you move along. Hateful rhetoric devoid of facts or even supported opinions can occur on the multitude of other threads and boards.

NK is saber rattling to get more dollars (assumedly US). Asked to explain and given a paltry sum over a 13 year period during the Clinton and W admins. I correctly assessed it as irrelevant.

In 1998 I wrote a check for Girl Scout cookies. It's about that relevant.

They are being supported by China, I guarantee it.

Just like Cuba was being subsidized by Venezuela, NK doesn't have an economy at all, really, but certainly not capable of sustaining itself for this long. Especially considering what they spend on their military.

They are a Chinese vassal state.

VZ was subsidized by China as is Mexico and Iran. It's no mystery that all have turned against us. Canada as well. Add in Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia and a bleak picture of bad foreign policy emerges.

Just a terrible place run by a terrible person

Thank God every day for what you have

Truly sad thing is many of the people who do escape aren't able to handle it, the psychology of living in NK and how they are brainwashed and treated makes adjusting to the outside very difficult.

As for the OP there isn't much we can do about this now, much bigger problem for China. NK isn't going to fire at us and is very unlikely to invade SK. They want to maintain their own power and with nukes they get to. Have to focus on problems we can solve.

Yep, and more than enough to kill millions, especially if they manage to slip an ICBM or two past our defenses.

And despite what the OP says, NK does have the ability to hit the United States. The only question is how reliable are their ICBMs.

Agree. But if China becomes unstable, which is a distinct possibility, the math in that regard changes with impacts the "calculus".

Xi is going today (I believe) to visit NK and this site particularly.

Could be just attention seeking as another has mentioned.

Regardless, I expect this story and Xi's visit to get some traction depending on how things develop in Iran.

"But if China becomes unstable" - what is your definition of unstable? I understand the economic slowdown and real estate pressures but that doesn't translate into someone who would not be able to execute a showdown in their own backyard.

Xi is getting on in years and his power and grip on it has declined. There have been a couple of "coup" attempts that were dealt with by executions and disappearances.

The economic environment further weakens his stance and that is projected to get worse, substantially worse. Getting told what to do by Trump concerning Iran and VZ doesn't help.

In China, the power struggles seem to originate out of the PLA so there would be distraction.

To be clear, I do not think such is imminent in China but in January Xi was doing more of his anticorruption "purges".

"Getting told what to do by Trump concerning Iran and VZ doesn't help." when did this happen?

Yep, we pulled them out of the dark ages and lit their economy on fire (in a good way). In return, they have taken all those profits from a huge trade imbalance and buying their way into being a world power….and trying to harm us at the same time. Trump has the right goal in taking back the Western hemisphere while unleashing our own economy and military.

As a MAGA guy, this is one of the top 3 on my scorecard. The other two are 1) get back to being a civil society with law and order. Exterminate the two-tier justice system. And 2) get our financial house in order. There is no reason for us to not have a balanced budget. If you don't have the money then do without whatever other non-sense government wants to add.

This is what it means to be MAGA. How any American can be against those 3 items is a real head scratcher for me. Only thing I can think of is some people have bought into the Democrat spiel about how we want to make America great again is by bringing back segregation and other past mistakes.

Edit: A top 5 includes get rid of the hyphenated-person. I'm talking about race/ethnicity. No one calls me a European-American. An American is an American. Any questions suggesting race or skin color on government or civil documents and applications should be outlawed. Eliminate gender, too. That eliminates much of any discrimination. Decisions will much more likely be based on merit. How can you be a united country if everyone is put in groups?

I was making an edit to my post as you posted. I agree with you, but it's not just minorities. Read my edit. There are white people who want to keep us separated into groups. I call them the Democrats. Think about all the grifting potential off race/ethnicity issues we've seen. NGO's and outright fraud. They're RINO's, too. Collectively known as The Deep State Swamp. It's amazing what they've exposed. USAID, NGO's, Fraud and digging deeper and illegal immigration/voting fraud. How can a clear minded person say, "Yeah, give me some more fraud and theft of my tax dollars!"

Agreed. Maybe we should start referring to ourselves as European-American or specify country if you know which it might be. Maybe we can wear them out .
