Securities fraud is a serious issue, and the SEC typically is pretty tough on people that violate the law here.
Also, the SEC doesn't give a rats damn about Texas politics, they have bigger fish to fry. But, if there is a blatant violation of Federal securities law, the SEC generally prosecutes, and has a pretty good track record.
It doesn't seem that what Paxton did was bad enough to be considered securities fraud according to SEC laws and regulations, in my understanding.
So, if what Paxton did wasn't bad enough to be considered securities fraud, why is it so much worse than any other money related political scandal we read about every month? Is it really a bigger deal than what others have been implicated in being a part of? Why?
