School voucher supporter pours $3 million into Speaker Burrows operation as GOP Texas House members scramble to outperform Paxton
Jeff Yass joins Tim Dunn in funding Burrows' GOP incumbents in tough races; at the top of the ticket, the governor is burning through historic amounts of cash only to be essentially tied or behind his Democratic opponent in the polls
Editor's Note: James Russell's breakdowns of the campaign cash flowing in legislative races have been a favorite of QR readers for years. He's outdone himself this time digging into what's on the reports in the races being watched most closely at Quorum Report Headquarters: Buzz Central in Austin. Your feedback is always welcome including anything you think we might have missed SB
We've come full circle.
Trial lawyers and Tim Dunn Dunn through his Texans United for a Conservative Majority (TUCM) are walking hand in hand in a number of the contested Republican-held districts this cycle with Speaker Dustin Burrows following behind with his leadership PAC Texas Conservative Majority. And Burrow's largest contributor is now, at a whopping $3 million, Pennsylvania megadonor Jeff Yass, the school voucher supporter who fueled Gov. Greg Abbott's scorched earth campaign against fellow Republicans two years ago.
In other words, those who bankrolled nasty primary challenges to incumbent Republicans are now on the hook for defending the new more ideologically-driven majority against insurgent Democrats who have the wind at their backs thanks to the historically low approval ratings of President Donald Trump. Remember, nearly all GOP Texas House members last year were bragging about being endorsed by Mr. Trump in exchange for their votes in favor of school vouchers. Now, many of the same lawmakers are running commercials and handing out campaign literature focused on their "pro-public education" voting records.
Unthinkable even 2 years ago: School voucher supporter/investor Jeff Yass and right-wing megadonor Tim Dunn now largely bankrolling Speaker Burrows' defense of the Texas House GOP majority. @jamesfortexas has the numbers in @quorumreport https://t.co/CWUGdqgFio #txlege

So why would a Senate campaign bench its own candidate in the closing weeks of the race? From where I sit, there are two likely explanations for Talarico's campaign going dark.
The first is that his campaign is afraid he'll say something disturbing again. Lash month, video caught Talarico answering a question about who his favorite drag queen is.
In the video, Talarico didn't even hesitate before answering, "Oh, my gosh. Probably Alyssa Edwards."
Alyssa Edwards is the stage name of Justin Dwayne Lee Johnson, a performer who has described himself as "a drag performer that works with children," and who has spent years advocating for youth drag shows. Johnson has openly discussed sharing the stage with the child dancers he trains himself
In other footage, he contradicted his own attempts to disavow his past radical statements.
"My positions haven't changed," Talarico said. "I will fight for trans kids in the Senate the same way I fought for trans kids in the legislature."
Clearly, a candidate who stays out of sight can't hand the opposition new material.
Last month it was announced that CNN would host Talarico for a town hall event in which Talarico
would answer questions from anchor Erin Burnett and audience members. It is not clear whether that event is still happening.
The second explanation for Talarico's disappearance is that the campaign is bracing for a damaging story to break. Under this theory, the cleared schedule buys his team time to prepare a response and keeps reporters from cornering him before it lands.
Whatever the cause, the basic math of a campaign hasn't changed. The final month is when candidates want every camera, every stage, and every handshake they can get. With a month to go before the election, pulling the candidate from the trail is odd and, at the least, reflects panic over something.
"The more Texans learn about James Talarico's radical plan to eliminate oil and gas, raise taxes, and force sex changes on kids, the more they realize they want nothing to do with him," RNC spokesman Zach Kraft told PJ Media. "No wonder he is running scared and hiding from Texans."

Is he sickly, possibly immuno-compromised/HIV positive? I don't know anyone who has contracted the flu this year so far, but I also don't know anyone hanging out with so many disgusting Manhattan/Hollywood vermin as he does.

Well I'm pretty damn sure he's gay, and seems sickly, and the homosexual population has a much higher incidence of HIV than the rest of the population. It's a fair question imho. Journalists should demand his campaign answer whether he has ever been tested/tested positive. I don't think Low-T has ever been filmed donating blood, despite being a nominally healthy young man.

Monkeypox often causes a rash and flu-like symptoms such as fever, chills, swollen lymph nodes, headache, muscle aches, and exhaustion within 21 days of exposure. The rash can appear anywhere on the body, including the face, hands, feet, chest, mouth, genitals, or anus, and may look like pimples or blisters before scabbing over.
With supportive care, mpox rashes usually heal over 24 weeks. Treatment can ease pain and other symptoms, but it doesn't necessarily make the rash clear faster; the lesions crust, scabs fall off, and new skin forms. You can still spread mpox until every lesion has healed and the scabs have fallen off.
If your rash is worsening, looks infected, or involves your eyes, mouth, genitals, or anus, contact a healthcare provider.

thats part of the math behind 50% in polling being highly correlated with a victory. the libertarian will peel off 1-2% of the vote so the target to win is 49ish%; 50% gives the candidate a little breathing room.Sq 17 said:
Hitting 50% is considered magic of course if the poll is improperly weighted it is less valid
What is the Libertarian candidate expected get because if it's 4% the magic number becomes 48%
