If anyone is following the details behind this, Flock recently put out a statement using the shooting as a Sales Point.
"Manor is a city of roughly 20,000 residents with a fraction of Austin's resources. What Manor has is an active license plate recognition network and the community support to keep it running. Manor PD located the suspects almost immediately. The spree ended. Residents stayed safe."
The statement was issued because BOLO's issued by Austin PD were unsuccessful, and Manor which still has flock caught them. Austin scraped the flock system last year btw.
Honestly names like dominion, and flock give me bad vibes. I can't deny that the system has merit, but at the end of the day the world isn't a safe place, and I don't want someone with the ability to share my daily driving habits with companies that want to sell me stuff...or in the event of actual government tyranny track me anywhere I go.
