I'm not voting this time around. I'm too busy working , anyway. For all the supposedly rosy numbers the govt puts out about the economy, it's kicking my ass. (Though I'm paying back debts I couldn't while homeless) I'm also having to cover for other members of leadership at work and working 13 hrs a night running an entire production line.

I'd probably hold my nose, like I did when voting for liberal Trump, and vote for ****ty Paxton, if I were though. Either way, Texas will have a craptastic Senator out of the election.

What conservatives view as failure, the Texas Republican Party views as success. Obviously a slight exaggeration before the R no matter what crowd comes after me.

But politics almost always tends to favor the selfish and corrupt that are willing to sell themselves for personal gain, and unfortunately the voting populace is pretty apathetic or naive when it comes to seeing through the political b.s.

Last time an incumbent US Senator lost in Texas (prior to Cornyn's inevitable loss) was 1970, when Lloyd Benson won the Democratic Primary. The power of incumbency is real.

It's got to be sad for someone like Cornyn who wants to be liked so bad, but now after all his years as a Senator, will go down as an absolute failure. Liberals hate him, they just used him as a pawn, and most republicans don't like him, and now he will be remembered as a 24 year Senator that got primaried by his own party.

If he didn't run for re-election he would have left with at least some respect and a decent reputation. Not saying he was loved, but he wasn't really hated by the right. That reputation is now gone and he will have to live the rest of his life as a has been.

Sure he does. It sends a message that his own beliefs and views towards the use of government, its size, its focus, etc, are irrelevant. All that matters is obedience to Trump. Failure to comply 100% will result in termination. I would think as an elected official, as a man, as a person who rose up on his own standards and brand of conservatism, its got to hurt Cruz.

I'm all for someone like Paxton in a general election year. However pulling this kind of **** in a mid-term may backfire in a huge way.

I just want a Republican in there that will vote with the republicans 99% of the time. In the quest for the Republican that will vote 100% with republicans you have a good chance of actually getting the guy in who will vote with republicans 0% of the time.
