Not impressed with this trip and Trump is a lot of what his opponents say he is but even as bad as that is, still better than the left.

I'm sure he's heart broken to not meet whatever unrealistic expectations you set for the trip.

So Trump tells Hannity basically it's great for farmers China is buying up farmland because if not prices would fall.

Are farmers wanting China to buy farmland if they are farming?

If they are quitting farming and letting the Chinese buy up land and farm instead in our country then that sounds right.

Well, I voted for Trump at least 4 or 5 times and he really disappointed. I mean, did he even get to feed fish on this trip? How can he show his true feelings without disrespecting the goldfish?

Up to now, China has treated Trump with kid gloves. But as a sophisticated anathema to the fast-talking, knee-jerk Trump, Xi has taken off the gloves this week, hinting at the power at his fingertips.

Quote:

Inside the Great Hall of the People, Xi told Trump that "the Taiwan question is the most important issue in China-U.S. relations. If it is handled properly, the bilateral relationship will enjoy overall stability. Otherwise, the two countries will have clashes and even conflicts, putting the entire relationship in great jeopardy," he added

Quote:

After decades at the head of the table, the U.S. under Trump has withdrawn from 66 international organizations and environmental treaties, including the World Health Organization, the Paris Climate Agreement, and major United Nations climate bodies.

It is natural cycle for empires to be on an upwards path for a period of time, then they peak and stay on a level plateau for awhile, then they decline. The U.S.A. empire is in the decline phase. We peaked around 1969. Maintained through 2000. The USA hegemony empire began to slowly decline after that.

Trump has exacerbated and sped up decline, but he didn't cause it. A decline was inevitable.

China will go through a similar pattern. They are on the upslope right now.

What a completely defeatist attitude with no facts to back up your "theory"…just built on emotions.

I'm reserving my opinion on success of this trip until we get past it. We are naturally going to see a lot of bluster and bull**** coming out of it while it's happening from both sides. I want to see actual agreements made.

My current impression leans between nothing has changed (Taiwan), or deals are made that look good on surface but are they really? On the latter, it seems like Trump has done a 180 on decoupling from China and is going hard in the paint on re-coupling us with China.

Personally, I want hard decoupling from China. Kick them out of our schools (which Trump capitulated on during the last trade talk) and do not give them more access to our stuff. I saw a blurb in day 1 that we are now going to allow them access to Nvidia's more powerful chips. Really? That is monumentally stupid considering the supposed "space race" we have with them on AI right now. But Nvidia CEO is there and why else would he be?

The concept on the chips is that by not selling you are just barely delaying them, if that. By selling it to them you reap the revenue and profits and have control over the supply chain.

I am not sure it makes me thrilled about it but there is some logic being utilized.

Honestly, I read that as more as China making blustery statements from a position of weakness than I do as China making some new line in the same.

Sounds much like Iran's blustery statements all through this conflict, and the only people who think Iran has the upper hand are those saddled with terminal TDS.

The Daily Beast "analysis" above is the same sort of TDS drivel, btw.

This makes gas prices more expensive for all Americans. Only winners are investors in these companies, which everyone honestly should be.

My take away is war with China is unavoidable. Maybe in a decade but the collision course is set.

Expanding trade with China which benefits the U.S. economy means war is unavoidable?

I admit I'm a simple man and acknowledge China is probably the biggest adversary to the U.S., but I'm going to need those dots connected in crayon to understand how you think it's unavoidable?

If anything war with China could happen if they try to take Taiwan AND the U.S. does not have a semiconductor backup plan, ideally stateside.

Do you support nuking them today? I mean total take out?

Because if you believe what you posted, then the logical action would be to remove them from human existence within the hour.

I don't think we are on an unchangeable path to war with China.

It is much more likely as Xi goes on and either days or becomes ever weaker, there will be a power struggle within China that almost certainly be very unpredictable.

Typically China turns massively inward, isolationist during those periods.

I do not disagree that our hegonomy may be declining but like you said it's natural. We can't fund the security of the planet forever. We've done so for 85 years via Bretton Woods but now we are pushing $40T in debt and the rest of the western world uses us for defense while funding their own cradle to grave welfare.
Well stated. Tbf, we wanted all that, and it was incredibly successful. Where we erred was back in the 1980s and 1990s when we changed course on several key foundational principles which kept the post-WW2 hegemony sound. We could fix all the issues causing our decline, but it would require us to do a lot of things we're not willing to do. So we'll continue on down the ruinous path we're on, until it fails.

When looking at whether Trump did well on this trip you have to look at who is his ultimate client. You are sadly mistaken if you think Trump is representing the American public. When you look at any of his actions with the understanding he is there representing himself, Jared, Jenson, Elon, Bezos, Blackstone, Don Jr, etc then you can see he is getting what he wants.

Trump is exactly what he is. He serves himself and his cabal. He is not doing a single thing for the benefit of America. Align yourself with the cabal and you will do fine during this presidency. Normal Americans will not.

China and the US know war means mutually assured economic destruction. Nobody is stupid enough to take that head-on.

China knows the best path to destroy America is to chip away at our belief in ourselves. Neville Roy Singham and American useful idiots (read: Democrat party members, Open Society, BLM, SPLC, DSA, Hollywood, etc) are their best hope. Jury's still out as to whether or not they'll succeed.

Xi's comments on Taiwan are typical Chinese blowhard hot air from a toothless tiger. They alway say the same thing, and we always say the same thing. Or we can say nothing at all as they know where we stand. They say what they want, we say OK anyway moving on…

Taiwan is there for their taking militarily but they know they can't / never will given what our response would be.

It's a complete non-topic. Basically we let China be a trans state, you can believe in one Chinese state which includes Taiwan, we will indulge your fantasy and not officially recognize Taiwan and have an embassy there, but we know that you know that we know that you know it is an independent country which has US backing and support.

My apologies for being unclear. I didn't mean to say the expanded trade would lead to war. Two separate issues. The first the expanded trade isn't good for Americans. It increases demand on oil which is causing higher prices and inflation. Also the expanded traded is temporary and can evaporate in 24 hours.

The second issue, which I believe is leading to war, is much of the talk coming out of this was about Chinas focus on Taiwan. They seem to be determined to take it. It's less clear the United States has either the capacity or will to deter them after the Iran war. It's not even clear if we should even we have both the ability and will to do so. And so it seems we are heading towards a conflict over it to some degree. Both countries seem to be also trying to decouple from each other, which again to me is an indication of impending conflict.

Trump's geopolitical realignment efforts also seem to indicate that is what is looming.

We just signed a massive defence deal with Indonesia, giving us virtual control of the narrow straight that is the most strategic lifeline to China trade coming from Europe and the ME.

We are not trading Japan and Singapore and Korea and the Philippines for Venezuela, Mexico, etc.

We already have those under our control.

Our leverage has never been higher concerning China.

Both Iran and Venezuela were dependent on Chinese military tech and they got smashed.

China won't take Taiwan by force, it's too costly and fraught with risk. They'll basically acquire Taiwan through a number of methods that don't include direct military invasion. Think of how they established total control over Hong Kong but on larger, more aggressive scale.

That's all fine, but there is no need to let 500k Chinese here so they can spy and steal our IP. It's known that they do this and is the reason they are here. And to tell us it will collapse our university system if we don't allow them is tard talk. There are 19M+ people in our universities here. Not having 500k Chinese here won't do dick to collapse our university system.

And letting them own farmland is equally unnecessary and stupid.

There's an upside to farm land price reduction. The younger generations will be better able to buy land to start a farm and/or property taxes will be lower.

As a boomer that's comfortably retired, I look forward to a significant price correction on Wall Street and in the real estate market. Younger folks should be cheering for a major correction.
