Baltimore bakery truck struck by a United Airlines plane coming in for a landing at Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey.

According to local reports, the plane was a United Airlines Boeing 767-400.

Senior vice president of Transportation & Logistics at H&S Bakery, Chuck Paterakis, says the driver was headed from Baltimore to New Jersey when he was hit.

The driver suffered minor injuries, according to Fox Baltimore.

"Our maintenance team is evaluating damage to the aircraft and we will investigate how this occurred," a United spokesperson said.

Alternative headline, Bakery truck driver hits MegaMillions Lottery. He turned his head and saw the plane coming right at him. Thats got to be at least a couple million in PTSD payments.....plus a new pair of pants.

If one had to drive I-35 in Austin when Mueller was still open, those jets would fly right over the road given the orientation of the runways Was unnerving until one got used to it..

No turnover in that bakery truck.

A little lower and that guy would be eating angel's food cake or would it be devil's food cake.

The plane also took out a street light. Very fortunate a catastrophic incident was avoided.

can't imagine how this was possible....the pilot had to have multiple warnings he was too low.

This same setup exists at the Atlanta airport. I drive by it often and this type of incident never really crossed my mind, unless there was crazy windshear.

One night I was driving back to my apartment in NW Austin on I-35 after an event downtown. I had the window rolled down and traffic was completely stopped due to construction having bottle-necked us down to one lane.

Next thing I know, I'm staring at the engine of an SWA coming in to land. I swear it felt like that thing was about to hit my truck.

I'm glad the driver is OK but this isn't anything to joke about. Delta 191, when it crashed at DFW in 1985, hit at least 2 cars. One, it flattened and the driver was, well, dismembered. Surviving, much less walking away from something like that, is impressive.

I guess the bakery truck wasn't hauling buns after all.

I have also been on the other side, looking out of the window of a plane landing during bad weather, turbulence. When you can make out faces inside the cars, you are too close.

Have I missed whether DEI was involved here?

In all seriousness, any indication as to how far below the glide slope they were? Did United hire the pilots from the Korean airline flight in San Fran? Captain Wei Tuya Lowe or similar?

He got bumped at the last minute. It was Captain Wi Tu Lo actually flying the aircraft.
