Maybe the biggest defense and technology data breach in history. This is a treasure trove for whoever gets their hands on it, both good actors and bad actors. China was running a lot of their military weapons physics simulations through this system as well as a lot of other technological research. Personally, I don't really feel bad for them.

Yep. One of the few things LLMs are actually pretty good at right now is finding systems vulnerabilities and if you believe anthropic their newest model is very good at finding zero day vulnerabilities. However, the biggest risk for data breaches is still the human error side. Some dumb butt administrator probably got phished or paid.

I'm sure 99.9999% is just "raw data". What everyone wants is the metadata - source code, confidential documents, summarized results, etc. You have that and you can re-create and/or interpret the data as needed.

Probably Israel and part of the deal with us striking Iran.

The US can't have our fingerprints on this. If Israel gets exposed, it was retaliation for assisting Iran.

Nah if this is a small hacker group or individual then selling it to everyone for 100s of thousands each is way easier than selling it to 1 or 2 countries or entities for hundreds of millions. Also if this is backed by an adversarial country to China then ythey want everyone to get the data/info.

My money would be on 1 of Taiwan/Isreal/Ukraine backed hacker group.
