Cops execute a search warrant at Afroman's house and seize a small amount of cash. They were looking for weed and kidnap victims. They find none and now charges are filed. They eventually return the cash. Afroman makes a music video using his security footage. Now the cops are suing for defamation. How does this not get tossed for first amendment issues?

I had a vehicle smash grab incident couple years ago. Surprisingly, I got a call back about my gun being found. On the call, I asked if a few hundred in cash was in the bag too, and Hou PD said "yes, got that too".

After waiting several months, I arrived at evidence room and there was no cash ever entered into evidence. If cops steal cash from victims of crimes, they certainly steal from criminals. So I want to take the opportunity to "defame" cops and Feds too.

If he's making money off the video, then wouldn't he have to get their permission to be used in the video? I don't think defamation is the right track, I think they would probably have a stronger argument for money from the video than defamation.

Unless he's doctored the video to show them doing something they didn't actually do, how exactly is he defaming them?

Unfortunately many of these Vice guys are nothing more than badged up rip crews that steal from all sorts of people (some dealers, some civilians) to feed their habit and their wallet. The streets know so if Afroman is accusing them of being users I'd bet dollars to Do-Nuts those guys are addicts and they made up a story (with false evidence) to rip him off. They got exposed and now want to save face.

Most every PD department is hiring. I suggest you go apply and become a LEO and you can help fix the problems.

There's decades of stories in the news about it and I have spoken to many a police officer from various precincts. It's just human nature to have bad apples that are corrupt or become addicted to drugs. We can all think it's "just Hollywood" or "books" where this happens but that's not reality.

The Shield is high on my list to watch.

My entire family has been in law enforcement for decades. I have lots of personal friends that are in various narcotics divisions…local, state and federal.
Do they ever have a dirty cop? Yep. Like any profession.
Are they as prevalent as you say? Not hardly…quite to the contrary.
By the way…..most divisions are hiring. Good chance to go make a difference.

the video is not the source of the defamation claim. It's subsequent messages on instagram where cops say Afroman lied about threats they made to kill him in front of his family etc.

He probably waited a long time because cops in every big city are slow as molasses. You blame HIM for cops taking forever to follow up on a theft crime? LOL

I know Fob IRL, every single thing happened exactly as claimed. And yes, I do believe the cops stole the cash, but it's possible that it was sheer incompetence when they told him they had possession of it to begin with.
